Bangalore generates around 4,000 tonnes of waste daily from its population of over 8 million people living in around 2.5 million households. Most of the waste is organic in nature and is produced by households, commercial establishments, and the Bangalore Municipal Corporation (BBMP). Improper waste management practices are causing waste to accumulate unchecked in the city, creating a growing garbage problem and health risks for citizens. New fully-automatic waste management machines provide a potential solution with benefits like being compact in size and requiring no labor to operate for their 150 minute cycles.
