1. Ergonomics
ERGO= WORK :NORM= RULES
• It is also known as Human Engineering.
• Deals with the relationship between
human+machine+environment.
• MAN+MACHINE relationship= anatomy(human and animal
study), physiology(strength speed body dimensions etc.,) and
psychology (how the operator behaves with respect to
command etc.,)

2. Anthropology
• Study of human characters like height, weight,
ratio of leg to shoulder length etc.,
• Usually anthropometric is a method of finding
the mean of all the characteristics of human.
• Why it is needed??
– To fix the boundary condition of work place
– Height and shape of the seats and work tables
– Design and location of handling levers and dashboard
panels knob etc.
– Increased comfort leads to improved efficiency.

7. Why suspension seat are necessary??
• 1.7 Hz- recommended frequency, but most of
the heavy duty trucks may produce 4 Hz.
• To reduce this suspension seats are came in to
effect.
