The North Kathmandu Development Council aims to transform 5 isolated villages in northern Kathmandu into an independent township through a grassroots, integrated approach. The council represents over 8,600 households and 36,000 people. It addresses challenges like youth, women, elders, governance, resources, health, education, and trust through self-sustaining economic and social systems. The council has over 70 members across executive, sectoral, and citizens groups. It focuses on problem solving, monitoring, and fundraising. Accomplishments include institutional development, education reforms, and entrepreneur programs, with current work on communication, governance, and economic/social change. The overall goal is to enhance citizen independence and quality of life.
