We are having a mix of Female Immigrant founders, Female Immigrant investors, and Male investors that had invested in Female Immigrants on this panel and talk about their different perspectives on this topic.
Access to Business
Women are having a significant economic impact globally and are becoming an increasingly important economic force. They contribute more to economic growth than new technologies or emerging markets. They also influence areas like fertility rates, workforce participation and consumer spending. As women gain more education and financial autonomy, they make decisions that shift household spending towards categories that are more important to women and families. Women reinvest over 90% of their income in their communities. However, more can be done to support women in leadership positions and help them access business opportunities. Mentorship is key to creating support and empowering women. Both organizations and individuals must work to promote strategies that advance women's careers and productivity.
GALS- Global Women's Issues

Only 39% described themselves as creative, and over half felt their education stifled creativity. While two-thirds see creativity as valuable to society, most people spend just 25% of their work time being creative due to pressure to be productive. Japan was seen as the most creative country overall followed by the US, especially cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Gen Y, the latest entrant in the multi-generational workforce, is a unique group. They are young, ambitious and dynamic; but their value systems at work are quite different from the other generations.
This new breed of socially connected professionals with multiple interests can (and probably will!) bring about a radical change in the work cultures of companies.
The big challenge facing organisations is not only building better working relations between the different generations, but also engaging Gen Y effectively to bring about a new and positive work culture that benefits everyone.
This presentation looks at the Gen Y workforce in Singapore and gives a few insights on which areas companies should be looking at for effective engagement with Gen Y.

Today, it is almost indisputable that EMPOWERMENT of girls and women is required for sustainable development. Whether poverty, violence and terrorism, or population explosion, as stated by Kofi Annan, 7th Secretary General of the United Nations, “There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women.”
And yet, what do we really know about empowerment of women, particularly at the global level?
One global monitor is the Millennium Development Goals. Specifically, Goal 3 is to promote gender equality and empower women. However, when examined in details, its one target is to eliminate gender disparity in education, and its four indicators are:
1. Ratio of girls to boys in primary, secondary and tertiary education;
2. Ratio of literate women to men, 15-24 years old;
3. Share of women in wage employment in the non-agricultural sector; and
4. Proportion of seats held by women in national parliament
Another is the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report. Here it specifically states that it ranks countries according to gender equality, NOT women’s empowerment.
Therefore, what may be THE GAP in gender gap is empowerment. And to begin our understanding and knowledge, 4GIRLS GLOCAL LEADERSHIP (4GGL) created and launched the first-ever global survey to hear voices, values, and vision of today’s young women around the world.
Our goal for this Conference is to share our initial findings, as well as begin a critical conversation about empowerment – the most powerful tool for change.
