CONTROL OF A HEAT EXCHANGER USING NEURAL NETWORK PREDICTIVE CONTROLLER COMBIN...ijics
The paper presents an advanced control strategy that uses the neural network predictive controller and the
fuzzy controller in the complex control structure with an auxiliary manipulated variable. The controlled
tubular heat exchanger is used for pre-heating of petroleum by hot water. The heat exchanger is modelled
as a nonlinear system with the interval parametric uncertainty. The set point tracking and the disturbance
rejection using intelligent control strategies are investigated. The control objective is to keep the outlet
temperature of the pre-heated petroleum at a reference value. Simulations of control of the tubular heat
exchanger are done in the Matlab/Stimulant environment. The complex control structure with two
controllers is compared with the conventional PID control, fuzzy control and NNPC. Simulation results
confirm the effectiveness and superiority of the complex control structure combining the NNPC with the
auxiliary fuzzy controller.
MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION ANALYSIS FOR PREDICTION OF BOILER LOSSES AND BOILE...ijics
Calculation of boiler efficiency is essential if its parameters need to be controlled for either maintaining or
enhancing its efficiency. But determination of boiler efficiency using conventional method is time
consuming and very expensive. Hence, it is not recommended to find boiler efficiency frequently. The work
presented in this paper deals with establishing the statistical model for boiler efficiency using major boiler
losses. Collected data from an eminent industry shows that the loss due to dry flue gas, loss due to
hydrogen content in fuel and loss due to moisture content in fuel are the major losses. The boiler efficiency
depends mainly on these losses. Multiple regression analysis is used for building the model.

A kind of novel pillar (used to support a windshield) has been designed to replace the conventional ones used in all sorts of vehicles. The prominent advantage of such a pillar is that it appears invisible so that the blind spots caused by A, B, C and D pillars will be diminished to a large extent or even eliminated completely. Therefore, the driver’s view is enlarged considerably. An intrinsic disadvantage of the new pillar, directionality and the invisibility rate with respect to the deviation from most-clear position, were investigated quantitatively and discussed.
AUTOMATED CHILLI SEED EXTRACTOR USEFUL FOR INDIAN FARMERSijics
Till today chilli seeds are separated manually and there is no specific machine designed to separate seed from its pulp. The manual process is carried out by hammering chilli fruits with wooden stick, separating the husk using hand separator. This manual method is quite tiresome mainly due to the inhalation of fine particles of chilli fruits by labours. Its pungency results in continuous sneezing and irritation for labours. Hence, it is necessary to eliminate laborious work and time consumption. The automated process of chilli seed extraction will be the better solution for this problem, which helps farmers. This automated method can also be adopted by food industries for large scale extraction of chilli seed, as well.
DESIGN OF PID CONTROLLERS INTEGRATOR SYSTEM WITH TIME DELAY AND DOUBLE INTEGR...ijics
In this paper first we investigate optimal PID control of a double integrating plus delay process and compare with the SIMC rules. What makes the double integrating process special is that derivative action is actually necessary for stabilization. In control, there is generally a trade-off between performance and
robustness, so there does not exist a single optimal controller. However, for a given robustness level (here defined in terms of the Ms-value) we can find the optimal controller which minimizes the performance J (here defined as the integrated absolute error (IAE)-value for disturbances). Interestingly, the SIMC PID controller is almost identical to the optimal pid controller. This can be seen by comparing the paretooptimal
curve for J as a function of Ms, with the curve found by varying the SIMC tuning parameter Tc.
Second, design of Proportional Integral and Derivative (PID) controllers based on internal model control (IMC) principles, direct synthesis method (DS), stability analysis (SA) method for pure integrating process with time delay is proposed. The performances of the proposed controllers are compared with the
controllers designed by recently reported methods. The robustness of the proposed controllers for the uncertainty in model parameters is evaluated considering one parameter at a time using Kharitonov’s theorem. The proposed controllers are applied to various transfer function models and to non linear model of isothermal continuous copolymerization of styrene-acrylonitrile in CSTR. An experimental set up of tank
with the outlet connected to a pump is considered for implementation of the PID controllers designed by
the three proposed methods to show the effectiveness of the methods.
TORQUE CONTROL OF AC MOTOR WITH FOPID CONTROLLER BASED ON FUZZY NEURAL ALGORITHMijics
Nowadays in the complicated systems, design of proper and implementable controller has a most importance. With respect to ability of fractional order systems in complicated systems identification as a first order fractional system with time delay, usage of fractional order PID has a proper result. From one side flexibility of fractional calculus than integer order has been topics of interest to the researchers. From another side, PMSM motors which are one the AC motor types, has been allocated largely accounted position in industry and used in variety applications. Therefore in this paper torque direct control of PMSM motors with FOPID based on model is proposed. Also fuzzy neural controllers are widely considered. Reason of this is success of fuzzy neural controller in control and identification of uncertain and complicated systems. The proposed method in this paper is combination of FOPID controller with fuzzy neural supervision system which with coefficients setting of this controller, control operation of PMSM will improve. Results of proposed method show the ability of proposed technique in reference signal tracking, elimination of disturbances effects and functional robustness in presence of noise and uncertainty. The results show the error averagely in three condition, nominal form, step disturbance and noise and uncertainly will decrease 11.66% in proposed method (FNFOPID) with Integral Square Error criterion and 7.69% with Integral Absolute Error criterion in comparison to FOPID.
SPEED AND TORQUE CONTROL OF AN INDUCTION MOTOR WITH ANN BASED DTCijics
Due to advantages such as fast dynamic response, simple and robust control structure, direct torque
control (DTC) is commonly used method in high performance control method for induction motors. Despite
mentioned advantages, there are some chronically disadvantages with this method like high torque and
current ripples, variable switching behaviour and control problems at low speed rates. On the other hand,
artificial neural network (ANN) based control algorithms are getting increasingly popular in recent years
due to their positive contribution to the system performance. The purpose of this paper is investigating of
the effects of ANN integrated DTC method on induction motor performance by numerical simulations. For
this purpose, two different ANN models have been designed, trained and implemented for the same DTC
model. The first ANN model was designed to select optimum inverter and the second model was designed to
use in the determination of the flux vector position. Matlab/Simulink model of the proposed ANN based
DTC method was created in order to compare with the conventional DTC and the proposed DTC methods.
The simulation studies proved that the induction motor torque ripples have been reduced remarkably with
the proposed method and this approach can be a good alternative to the conventional DTC method for
induction motor control.

An Inertial Navigation System (INS) can easily track position, velocity and orientation of any moving
vehicle. Generally, deterministic errors are present in an uncalibrated Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
which leads to the requirement of an accurate estimation of navigation solution. These inertial sensors,
thus, needs to be calibrated to reduce the error inherent in these systems. By mathematical model of IMU
including both accelerometer and gyroscope is utilized for the purpose of error calibration. Particle
Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Human Opinion Dynamics (HOD) Optimization based calibration
techniques have used to obtain error parameters such as bias, scale factor and misalignment errors.

Health is of great concern for everyone. Both investment and efforts on health monitoring, care and maintenance are ever increasing. Smart phones are affordable for every one nowadays. This paper discusses an innovative method ofdesigninga smart phone based health care system which can measure some of the body parameters such as temperature, pulse rate and blood glucose level. The key
feature here is to embed the smart phone with required sensors, process their data, store in the memory.
Further, these data can be transmitted to a doctor or hospital authority for future references using an
application designed in the same smart phone. The system can be used to suggest some precautions and
also remedies for the user, if these body parameters are outside the normal range. This makes the smart phone really the smartest.
DTC CONTROL OF BLAC AND BLDC MOTORS FOR PURE ELECTRIC VEHICLESijics
While creating an industrial system which has an electric motor, the designers should to be think over not
only control method but also motor type to create successful and efficiency system. If created system is an
electric vehicle, designers have two powerful candidates as traction motor: Brushless AC (BLAC) or
Brushless DC (BLDC) motors. In this study, a comparative performance investigation and evaluation are
presented between direct torque controlled (DTC) Brushless AC and Brushless DC motors which have
been considered as traction motor on electric vehicles. In addition, a short review to BLAC and BLDC
motor technology is also included. The basics of the DTC method are presented and small-scale pure
electric vehicle model is created and integrated to the motor control model. The BLAC and BLDC motors
modeled as having the same electrical parameters and simulated with same control model parameters in
order to make fair comparison. The simulation studies have proved that DTC controlled BLAC and BLDC
motors have closer performances as vehicle traction motor, and both motor types can be allowed as a good
candidate for pure electric vehicles applications.
