International Day of Non-Violence U.N Honours Gandhiji’s Ideals by declaring Gandhi Jayanti as international day off non violence
UN declares 2 October, Gandhi’s birthday, as International Day of Non-Violence
"Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages."
Non-violence is not inaction. It is not discussion. It is not for the timid or weak...Non-violence is hard work. It is the willingness to sacrifice. It is the patience to win."
Violence destroys lives and livelihoods, breeds insecurity, fear and terror, and has a profoundly negative impact on human development. Whether in situations of conflict or crime, it imposes enormous costs on states, communities and individuals.
A new culture of peace, preventing wars, terrorism and poverty, is generated when a natural order of social harmony gives priority to the well-being of children, parents, and caregivers, who make up 50 to 80% of the population in any given country. These groups are basically peace-loving, and provide the social foundation for a harmonious, new culture of peace. Mahatma Gandhi wrote: "If we are ever to have real peace in this world we shall have to begin with the children." The founding leaders of the Non-Aligned states meet in New York in October 1960. From left: Nehru of India, Nkrumah of Ghana, Nasser of Egypt, Sukarno of Indonesia and Tito of Yugoslavia.
Continued global warming is expected to cause shifts in the geographic range (latitude and altitude) and seasonality of certain infectious diseases, including vector-borne infections such as malaria and dengue fever, and food-borne infections
Education encourage changes in behaviour that will create a more sustainable future in terms of environmental integrity, economic viability, and a just society for present and future generations .
"Climate change is an environmental issue, but also a development issue. The international community should respect the developing countries' right to develop."
To day on International day of non-violence we should pledge our selves we will work towards achieving social justice, economic growth, environmental protection, religious tolerance and peace.
Globalization, Growth and Poverty Globalization has helped reduce poverty in a large number of developing countries but it must be harnessed better to help the world's poorest, most marginalized countries improve the lives of their citizens.
