The Kitchener Panthers opened their season against the Toronto Maple Leafs, getting two runs in the second inning but losing the lead after Toronto scored three in the third. The game remained close, with each team scoring runs in the sixth and seventh innings, until Toronto finally scored in the eighth inning to win 6-5 and hand the Panthers their first loss of the season. The Panthers will next play the Brantford Red Sox on Thursday at 7:30 pm at Jack Couch Park.
