This document discusses how blockchain could enable better integration of systems and data at the consumer level. Currently, a few large platforms dominate and control most valuable user data, requiring other systems to partner with them. Blockchain could allow for direct integration where users control their own data tokens and choose which systems and services to share their data with freely, without needing approval. This level of open integration has the potential to break up internet monopolies by giving users more control and choice. While the full impacts are unknown, blockchain promises a more open approach to integration that shifts power back to users.
