Film Noir was released during the 1930s – 1950’s by such film institutions as
Warner Bros Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount, and also Universal
Pictures.



                  The filmsThey Drive by Night (1940) and The Maltese Falcon
                  (1941) were released and distributed by Warner Bros Pictures.
                  Warner Bros was also responsible for the release of other
                  Noir’s such as High Sierra (1941), Mildred Pierce (1945),The
Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage and Possessed (both 1947), Key Largo (1948),
White Heat (1949), Strangers on a Train (1951) and The Wrong Man (1956).


                Another distribution company known for it’s Film Noir releases
                is Twentieth Century Fox. Fox. During the 1940s, Twentieth
                Century released fourteen Noir films, including:


       I wake up Screaming (1941)
       Laura (1944)
       Fallen Angel (1945)
       The Black Corner and Somewhere in the Night (both 1946)
       Boomerang, The Brasher Doubloon, Kiss of Death, Nightmare Alley, Call
       Northside 777 (all 1947)
       Whirlpool (1949)
       Panic in the Streets and Where the Sidewalk Ends (both 1950),


                Paramount, another distribution company,produced a few
                pieces of Film Noir, including the German motion picture, “M”
                (1931), as well as Vertigo (1958). Paramount was also
                responsible for Double Indemnity (1944) and also Sunset
Boulevard (1950).


                  The fourth and final Institution, Universal, was responsiblefor
                  such films as Phantom Lady (1944), Black Angel and The
                  Killers (both 1946), Criss Cross (1949), and finally, Touch of
                  Evil and Vertigo (both 1958)
