The Institute of Urban Transport (IUT) is a nonprofit organization established in 1997 under the Ministry of Urban Development of the Government of India. The IUT promotes sustainable urban transport through activities like conferences, seminars, workshops, training programs, and technical support to the Ministry. It has over 1,400 individual members and 70 associate members from fields like engineering, planning, and economics. In recent years, the IUT has strengthened its research, publications, training, and database wings to further its mission of advising on principles of sustainable urban transport and building capacity in the sector.

7. A member of IUT can avail membership benefits such as,
- Access to library, and papers.
- Interact with over 1400 urban transport professionals from India and abroad.

Institutional Membership
Any organization / company / firm /
association / society who have rendered
or are rendering services to Urban
Transport for at least 5 consecutive years
or are connected with objects of the
Institute. Membership fee is onetime fee
of Rs. 60, 000/-
Individual Membership
A graduate in any discipline; above the age of 25
years on the date of his application; experience
of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial
capacity work connected with Urban Transport
or 10 years of service in a senior position of
responsibility in Central / State Governments /
Public Undertakings / autonomous bodies. The
membership fee is Rs. 10,000/- one time.
