inVENTer® Quality & Guarantee

The inVENTer® system is designed and produced in Germany. The inVENTer® is made of
corrosion-resistant, very durable materials such as plastic (no PVC), ceramic and
stainless steel. All our products are covered by guarantee for 2 years.
Furthermore there is a 10 year guarantee on the ceramic heat accumulator.
An additional 3 years guarantee can be purchased.

Please follow the instructions in the installation manual. Failure to do this will
    invalidate the guarantee.

Liability:
The inVENTer ventilation unit was designed for comfortable ventilation in residential
buildings. Use in any other way is considered as being an unauthorised use that can
result in damage to the unit and/or injury to persons, for which the manufacturer cannot
    be held responsible.
The manufacturer assumes no liability for damage or injury attributable to:
 Failure to observe the safety, operating and maintenance instructions in this
            manual.
 The use of materials not supplied by the manufacturer. The responsibility here lies
solely with the company installing the unit.
         Normal wear.
DO NOT USE IN PERMANENTLY DUSTY ROOMS AND IN ROOMS WITH ABRASIVE AND CORROSIVE
      GASES.
DURING BUILDING WORK, CLOSE THE VENTILATION SYSTEM AIRTIGHT. FINISH THE BUILDING
BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF INSTALLATION OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM! INFORM OTHER
TRADES- PEOPLE AND THE WORKS SUPERVISOR .
DON´T USE THE INVENTER DEVICES TO DRY A BUILDING, DURING BUILDING OR DURING
      GRINDING PROCEDURES.

Safety
Observe the safety regulations and warnings contained in this manual at all times. Failure
to do so may result in damage to the unit or personal injury.
The Heat Recovery Ventilator is a „SELV“ (Safety Extra Low Voltage) ventilator which
operates at 7-15 volts DC. Under no circumstances must this be connected directly to the
mains supply. Damage so caused is not covered by the guarantee. The low voltage used
by the ventilator must be provided by the controller supplied.
Attention! If used in the same building as open fires, the relevant standards and
regulations must be observed by the installing company.
With the exception of room sealed units (balanced flue), all fuel burning household
appliances, including open fires require air for combustion. Heat Recovery Ventilation
(HRV) systems can interfere with the supply of this air. Always ensure that there is an
adequate combustion air supply to rooms housing flued appliances. HRV systems draw
fresh air from outside the dwelling to replace the exhausted stale air. Take care to ensure
that the fresh air intake is not sited close to any form of flue outlet to prevent poisonous
fumes from being drawn into the home.

Installation iV14R/V „General part“

Installation Manual „general part“
The installation manual consists of the general section, and the manuals of the components
(inner valve, tubes/ducts, heat cartridge and outer hood).

Read these instructions carefully before beginning any installation procedure. Failure to
follow them closely may reduce ventilation effectiveness, cause a hazardous condition,
    and/or invalidate your guarantee.
    PS: 25 mm = 1 inch!
INSTALLATION CAN ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY A SUITABLY QUALIFIED CRAFTSMAN AND
CONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.

Planning of the ventilation (project):
Fully prepare the project before starting the installation:
The project gives you number, type and the right location of all inVENTer devices and
controllers including the starting direction of the fans. To guarantee the function make
sure the following rules are applied:
Pairwise working of all fans: „Supply air = outlet air“ the same number of devices work
against the same number of devices (odd number). Change the starting direction of the
fans if nessaccary (see the project and the installation manual). At the factory all fans are
    prepared for "outlet air“.
Wireless synchronisation: Also a group of not cabled inVENTer devices have to work
pairwise. Use the latest controller ZR7 to synchronisize this group wirelessly. (read the
installation manual of the controller ZR7)
cross ventilation: the single room ventilation system use the room for "ducting“.
Therefore all inner doors must possess gaps (1cm at the bottom of the door) or
ventilations grids of 100 cm². Alternativly unscrew the door angles 5 mm.

Order of installation:
Follow the order of installation exactly:
(Attention – Inform and speak with other building trades (bricklayer, electrician etc.)!

The inner valve with dust filter is a component of the inVENTer system. It is closeable
and used for indoor (not for outdoor use). You can optionally order additional dust filters
and allergic filters. Normal use is with filters. Using without the filter can damage the
reversal fan. Switched-off systems should be closed.

 Fix the lower part of the inner valve with 4 screws with the attachment points of the
tube. Ensure the correct length. Screw the lower part of the inner valve hand tight.
 Gaps behind the inner valve can generate draft air. In this case, glue a second
weather strip of 1 cm in the empty notch of the upper part of the inner valve (not
     delivered).
 Press with fingers the dust filter on the tops of the plastic needles.

 The "inVENTer“ logo on the lower part of the round valve should be at the bottom.
Set first the notches of the round cover on the upper legs to the lower part of the
round valve. Press now with fingers the lower legs into the lower notches of the
round cover. Turn to the left to open and turn to the right to close the valve.

Service + Maintenance

Service and maintenance

    Caution
Before performing any service to your inVENTer®, switch off the unit and
disconnect power to the unit. The ceramic heat accumulator is fragile. Don´t throw
it. For fitting and removing use gloves (sharp corners could cause injury).
General advice:
   1. The inVENTer® - ventilation system is developed for continuous use with a minimum of
maintenance and service. We recommend using the inVENTer® all the year. Energy
consumption is only about 2 W/h per unit, but you save 40 times more heating
      energy.
   2. The inner valve must be open (turn to the left).
   3. If the controller is "off“ close the inner valve (turn to the right).
   4. You can change the speed and working mode at the controller (see controller manual).
   5. In the event of a short circuit, electrical and thermal fuses switch off the controller and
the inVENTer® units. Remove the disturbance and switch the controller off and on
      again.
   6. There is an electrical protection against clogging by foreign particles, that will stop
inVENTer® automatically. Switch off the controller and remove the particles in this
      event.
Maintenance:
inVENTer® - dust filters are very durable and can be cleaned several times.
We recommend cleaning the dust filter as necessary, normally every month. Wash in warm
soapy water. Replace the filter when necessary.
The pollen filter cannot be cleaned and must be changed as necessary.
The cartridge with the heat accumulator should be checked every three months. It can be
cleaned in a dishwasher or with a vacuum cleaner. First switch off power, open the valve and
dismount the fixture. Disconnect the fan and take it out – Don't clean the fan in the
dishwasher! Take out the cartridge with the heat accumulator and clean it.
Check the fans once a year. Even if the required maintenance, such as cleaning/changing of
filters is carried out, dust and grease may slowly build up inside the fans. This will reduce
efficiency. The fans can be cleaned with compressed air and a soft, damp cloth.
You can order replacement filtration materials from your inVENTer®-representative or under:
www.inventer.eu .

Any damage to the packaging must be recorded on the delivery note on receipt of the goods. Dispose of the packaging materials in an environmentally safe manner. Please retain the invoice and all documents. The building must be completed before the ventilation system can be used! Identification mark: inVENTer14R / inVENTer14V, according to German certification DIBt: Z-51.3-156 Producer: Oeko-Haustechnik inVENTer GmbH, Ortsstrasse 4a, D-07751 Loeberschuetz Overview: 1: exterior weather hood 2: outer board 3: inner valve cover 4: inner valve sound protector 5: lower part of the inner valve 6: dust filter 7: reversal fan 8: ceramic heat accumulator 9: fixed tube iV14R with round inner valve inVENTer 14R inVENTer 14V Stand: 10/2010 1
  • 2. Installation iV14R/V „General part“ inVENTer® Quality & Guarantee The inVENTer® system is designed and produced in Germany. The inVENTer® is made of corrosion-resistant, very durable materials such as plastic (no PVC), ceramic and stainless steel. All our products are covered by guarantee for 2 years. Furthermore there is a 10 year guarantee on the ceramic heat accumulator. An additional 3 years guarantee can be purchased. Please follow the instructions in the installation manual. Failure to do this will invalidate the guarantee. Liability: The inVENTer ventilation unit was designed for comfortable ventilation in residential buildings. Use in any other way is considered as being an unauthorised use that can result in damage to the unit and/or injury to persons, for which the manufacturer cannot be held responsible. The manufacturer assumes no liability for damage or injury attributable to:  Failure to observe the safety, operating and maintenance instructions in this manual.  The use of materials not supplied by the manufacturer. The responsibility here lies solely with the company installing the unit.  Normal wear. DO NOT USE IN PERMANENTLY DUSTY ROOMS AND IN ROOMS WITH ABRASIVE AND CORROSIVE GASES. DURING BUILDING WORK, CLOSE THE VENTILATION SYSTEM AIRTIGHT. FINISH THE BUILDING BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF INSTALLATION OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM! INFORM OTHER TRADES- PEOPLE AND THE WORKS SUPERVISOR . DON´T USE THE INVENTER DEVICES TO DRY A BUILDING, DURING BUILDING OR DURING GRINDING PROCEDURES. Safety Observe the safety regulations and warnings contained in this manual at all times. Failure to do so may result in damage to the unit or personal injury. The Heat Recovery Ventilator is a „SELV“ (Safety Extra Low Voltage) ventilator which operates at 7-15 volts DC. Under no circumstances must this be connected directly to the mains supply. Damage so caused is not covered by the guarantee. The low voltage used by the ventilator must be provided by the controller supplied. Attention! If used in the same building as open fires, the relevant standards and regulations must be observed by the installing company. With the exception of room sealed units (balanced flue), all fuel burning household appliances, including open fires require air for combustion. Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) systems can interfere with the supply of this air. Always ensure that there is an adequate combustion air supply to rooms housing flued appliances. HRV systems draw fresh air from outside the dwelling to replace the exhausted stale air. Take care to ensure that the fresh air intake is not sited close to any form of flue outlet to prevent poisonous fumes from being drawn into the home. inVENTer® www.inventer.de 2
  • 3. Installation iV14R/V „General part“ Installation Manual „general part“ The installation manual consists of the general section, and the manuals of the components (inner valve, tubes/ducts, heat cartridge and outer hood). Read these instructions carefully before beginning any installation procedure. Failure to follow them closely may reduce ventilation effectiveness, cause a hazardous condition, and/or invalidate your guarantee. PS: 25 mm = 1 inch! INSTALLATION CAN ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY A SUITABLY QUALIFIED CRAFTSMAN AND CONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN. Planning of the ventilation (project): Fully prepare the project before starting the installation: The project gives you number, type and the right location of all inVENTer devices and controllers including the starting direction of the fans. To guarantee the function make sure the following rules are applied: Pairwise working of all fans: „Supply air = outlet air“ the same number of devices work against the same number of devices (odd number). Change the starting direction of the fans if nessaccary (see the project and the installation manual). At the factory all fans are prepared for "outlet air“. Wireless synchronisation: Also a group of not cabled inVENTer devices have to work pairwise. Use the latest controller ZR7 to synchronisize this group wirelessly. (read the installation manual of the controller ZR7) cross ventilation: the single room ventilation system use the room for "ducting“. Therefore all inner doors must possess gaps (1cm at the bottom of the door) or ventilations grids of 100 cm². Alternativly unscrew the door angles 5 mm. Order of installation: Follow the order of installation exactly: (Attention – Inform and speak with other building trades (bricklayer, electrician etc.)! 1. Installation of the tube/duct 1.a round tube (iV14R) 1.b square duct (iV14V) 2. Complementation of the iV14R/V outside 3. Complementation of the iV14R/V inside 3.1 Installation of the heat cartridge and electrical connection 3.2 Installation of the inner valve inVENTer® www.inventer.de 3
  • 4. 1a. Installation of round tube (iV14R) 1a. Installation of the round tube iV14R The tube is a component of the inVENTer system and made of plastic ABS. Attention:Read the following relative instructions if you ordered a sliding sleeve! Technical data tube iV14R (Art.-Nr.1506-0037) with sliding sleece (Art.-Nr. 1506-0048) Shipments: - tube iV14R: Art.-Nr. 1506-0037 (450 mm) / 1506-0038 (650 mm) / 1506-0039 (850 mm) - foam wedges - plaster cover (cut yourself) - asseccories kit (foam tape, weather strip, stopper tape) Shipments (optional): - Sliding sleeve for tube iV14R (1506-0048) with asseccories kit (weather strip, screws+washers) - sound insulating mat (Art.-Nr. 1004-0057) - fabric tape (Art.-Nr. 1004-0051) (to fix the sliding sleeve) - two-component foam (Art.-Nr. 1004-0050) - dowel kit for insolation panels (Art.-Nr. 1004-0067) - flat cable (Art.-Nr. 1004-0006 [33 m] / Art.-Nr. 1004-0007 [per m]) - round cable (Art.-Nr. 1004-0020 [33 m] / Art.-Nr. 1004-0049 [per m]) inVENTer® www.inventer.de 4
  • 5. 1a. Installation of the round tube (iV14R) Configure the location of the vents and cables Inside:  Site the inVENTer close to the ceiling. This will ease the installation of the power cable and give you the best position for air circulation.  Make sure there is a minimum distance of 100 mm (edge of the tube to wall/ceiling)  Don´t forget spare room of 250mm in front of the inner valve (don´t put up furniture). Outside:  Keep in mind the exterior view. (e.g. top of the window = top of the outer hood)  Minimal distance 200 mm to the next building element [F=window]  Y > 250 mm  Drill the hole making sure that masonary does not fall and injure people or damage property below.  InVENTer is designed to be installed using a 230 mm Core Drill system.  The hole needs to be angled downwards very slightly to outside (1% / 2 degrees).  Lay the flat cable 6x0,25 mm² (FK) or the round cable 3x0,75 mm² (RK) from the controller to the inVENTer devices (in picture right on the top).  Lay about 500 mm extra cable in the tube. advice:  Read the extra controller manual and the circuit diagram!  Use our flexible round or flat cable.  Locate the controller in a public place in a similar way to light switches.  Set the junction boxes vertically and squared up to the plaster.  Protect the installed boxes against dust and dirt during the building period. inVENTer® www.inventer.de 5
  • 6. 1a. Installation of the round tube (iV14R) Installation of the tube: tools:  measuring tape, water-level, angle grinder, cutter, knife or file, screw driver auxiliary materials:  2-component foam (for doors) Attention:  Avoid deformation during installation of the tubes! Otherwise the cartridges with the heat accumulator won't fit inside. This invalidates your guarantee.  Please use only non-oppressive assembly foam (2 component foam).  Install the tube outside airtight and inside vapour tight. Use special adhesive tapes and ask your foreman/specialist.  The fixing points of the tube are filled with short screws. Remove these screws after the finishing of all dusty/dirty works. inVENTer® www.inventer.de 6
  • 7. 1a. Installation of the round tube (iV14R)  Measure out the total wall thickness. This is: outer plaster/insolation thickness (E) + brick thickness (D) and inner plaster thickness (X).  The tube should not extend beyond the wall finisher inside and outside!  Slide the length of the optional sliding sleeve and the tube to fit / match the total wall thickness [E+D+X].  Fix an additional tape between the sliding sleeve and tube, if the gap between both is too big.  Glue both parts together with water-resistant tape (e.g. the optional fabric tape).  Place the tube in the hole.  Lay the ribbon or round cable laterally into the tube.  Without plaster you have the overhang (X).  Outside the same do apply. Without plaster, you have also the overlap (E) of the tube or of the sliding sleeve. inVENTer® www.inventer.de 7
  • 8. 1a. Installation of the round tube (iV14R)  The distance (W) between tube and vent is 10 mm minimum (foam gap).  Set the inner attachment points of the tube at "3, 6, 9 and 12 o`clock“. Set the outer attachment points of the optional sliding sleeve at 3 and 9 o`clock. • 22. Service + Maintenance Service and maintenance Caution Before performing any service to your inVENTer®, switch off the unit and disconnect power to the unit. The ceramic heat accumulator is fragile. Don´t throw it. For fitting and removing use gloves (sharp corners could cause injury). General advice: 1. The inVENTer® - ventilation system is developed for continuous use with a minimum of maintenance and service. We recommend using the inVENTer® all the year. Energy consumption is only about 2 W/h per unit, but you save 40 times more heating energy. 2. The inner valve must be open (turn to the left). 3. If the controller is "off“ close the inner valve (turn to the right). 4. You can change the speed and working mode at the controller (see controller manual). 5. In the event of a short circuit, electrical and thermal fuses switch off the controller and the inVENTer® units. Remove the disturbance and switch the controller off and on again. 6. There is an electrical protection against clogging by foreign particles, that will stop inVENTer® automatically. Switch off the controller and remove the particles in this event. Maintenance: inVENTer® - dust filters are very durable and can be cleaned several times. We recommend cleaning the dust filter as necessary, normally every month. Wash in warm soapy water. Replace the filter when necessary. The pollen filter cannot be cleaned and must be changed as necessary. The cartridge with the heat accumulator should be checked every three months. It can be cleaned in a dishwasher or with a vacuum cleaner. First switch off power, open the valve and dismount the fixture. Disconnect the fan and take it out – Don't clean the fan in the dishwasher! Take out the cartridge with the heat accumulator and clean it. Check the fans once a year. Even if the required maintenance, such as cleaning/changing of filters is carried out, dust and grease may slowly build up inside the fans. This will reduce efficiency. The fans can be cleaned with compressed air and a soft, damp cloth. You can order replacement filtration materials from your inVENTer®-representative or under: www.inventer.eu . inVENTer® www.inventer.de 22
