Initial "Marketing Schools" Please respond to the following: Evaluate the idea that educators must “sell” their ideas about how schools should be organized. Determine where you stand on this idea and explain why. Determine how best to identify the needs of the stakeholders that the schools should serve. Provide support for your viewpoint that will address potential issues raised by people who disagree. Peer Response I think that the idea that teachers have to sell their ideas is understandable but at times unnecessary. I should not have to sell someone of power on the idea that my school needs more resources when you can clearly see it. I understand that at times, you may have to sell specifics on how to get those resources (to an extent), but teachers work in this field everyday, our voice should have more say than anyone’s and I do not think it always does. It is one thing to tell someone an idea but it is another when I have to try to convince you of something that is evident. My school district is pretty much behind any type of academic reform we can introduce in our classroom. My district is actually reshaping our whole system; “The urgency of the reform effort was necessitated by low student performance outcomes, the low-student performance outcomes, the introduction of significantly higher academic standards, an organization culture challenged by mistrust and negative public perception of the school system” (MNPS,p.1, 2012). MNPS has employed a ‘Theory of System Change’ that embodies (MNPS, p.3, 2012) which fosters personalized learning in the classroom. Research has shown that this component will improve the “student success rate”. I see stakeholders at the school I serve in 3 phases/tiers. I look at the relationships of the administration (principals, district personal, investment members and instructional coaches), relationships of the instructional staff (teachers and support staff) and finally the relationships of community stakeholders (community members, students and parents). The 3 tiers I have mentioned is also the way I would prioritize communication. I would first want to get buy in from the individuals who makes the decision and would the adopters of my program. I would want to consider their overall vision and needs for this school which is step 3 in the developmental and information decision process models ‘visualization’ of the adopter. My understanding of the differences between a learning community and a learning organization is that in a learning community is the interaction of groups of students or people who work together academically face to face, or electronically. Unlike a learning organization, a learning community is not considered being a formal organization, instead the curriculum happens to be more of a restructured program. The use of a learning community helps to increase student learning by linking courses and classwork as it will encourage students and teachers to collaborate together as a team to discuss or resolve any problems or issues that may present itself as a team. As for a learning organization on the other hand, is a formal organization that creates a culture that adapts to change and embraces growth. The use of a learning organization allows any new members to exchange their ideas and make sense of it as a team. Its said that transforming a school district to a learning organization will help promote profound learners v superficial learners that currently exists in our bureaucratic system.
Scenario:
An optimal learning and community organization joining forces and collaborating with one another would be in team building situation. Dealing with the many personalities on ones grade level there is always that someone who prefers to isolate themselves versus meeting as a whole team. I believe by incorporating these two organizations during a PLC meeting, or during grade level meetings will be a great way to collaborate and support each other by sharing and linking courses, ideas, and help solve any issues that may arise in their lesson plans. In doing so will certainly ensure that their students will thrive academically and become profound learners in the end.

In my experience, I have seen both effective and ineffective leaders. Effective leaders have a number of positive characteristics. The most important characteristics is passion. In order to be effective, one must display a passion in their role. Passion is essential in higher education. While decision making is a critical part of being a leader, it should be accompanied with passion. Passion helps leaders to strive for the best interest of those who would be affected. For example, at an institution I worked at, there was a struggle of power between the dean of students and other administrators. The dean was attempting to meet the needs of the students by utilizing the budget to upgrade the student center; however, administration saw the need to utilize funds for other means. The passion of the dean to serve the students is what provided fuel to fight for change. Passion isn’t the only characteristic to be an effective leader of change. Good judgement and active listening are characteristics that an effective leader must also have. In order to strategically be effective, one must listen to the concerns of the stakeholders of the stakeholders and utilized good judgement in navigating the best interests of the institution.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities provide plays a more significant role in student development that minorities at Predominantly White Institutions.
The key stakeholders to this issue are students, administration, and faculty. These stakeholders are relevant to this issue for several reasons. Minority students at Predominantly White Institutions deserves the same level of engagement as students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Minority Serving Institutions are the gold standard in terms of engagement. Administration are invested in this issue as well. Their mission is not only to develop students, but to provide a fair and comparable learning environment to those students as well. Faculty are also invested due to the fact that it is their role in the students’ future. Educators, just like all parents, want their students to have the best educational experience as possible.

Also the lack of coordination between operating regional and local levels trade, which, in turn, other public institutions and finally the lack of continuity due to changes in government and inadequate supervision of teachers.

To improve or contribute to the education of our people, the main thing is a degree of commitment that has every one of the people who are in charge of our education.
Promote activities in which parents and children interact and simultaneously they are contributing something to society would be one of our proposals.

Parents try to help by pointing to smart students and suggesting that their offspring emulate the learning strategies that work for others. Following the path set by others won't work. In fact, we all learn differently. It's a wise parent and facilitative instructor who realizes this and helps the student identify their strategies to meet it. As we work extensively in technology, we see that learners now have access to a variety of instructional strategies. In many cases, the learner selects the path to the strategy. The search for knowledge becomes the learner's intrinsic reward, rather than an extrinsic reward provided by external authority. This may make the learner more motivated because they find it easier to learn. Research in learning technologies may eventually show us that students learn more quickly and deeply so that they apply the information and solve problems. A school can be in the worst neighborhood, but a satellite dish on the roof and fast Internet access on ten classroom computers, positively impacts learning. It could be that we're saving generations of children. Many learning style models exist; my favorite is Albert Canfield's. It has a strong research base, uses clear language, reports in percentiles, and helps stude.

Understanding the use of basic statistical strategies is part of being a critical consumer of published research literature. Unless they plan to conduct research themselves, it is not as important for counselors to understand the mathematical calculations of the statistical techniques as it is to be able to recognize the names of the common ones and what kind of information they provide. There are several commercially-available software packages for analyzing quantitative data, one of which is described in detail in Chapter 14 of

Descriptive and Inferential Statistics
In quantitative studies, statistical techniques are used for data analysis. The two main categories of statistics are descriptive and inferential. Descriptive statistics are used to summarize the data. Some common descriptive statistics are the measures of central tendency: the mean, median, and mode. They provide information about where the middle is in distribution of scores. On the normal distribution, the mean, median, and mode are the same. Distributions are said to be skewed when extreme scores draw the mean away from the middle of the distribution. Measures of variability, such as the range, variance, and standard deviation, provide information about how widely a distribution of scores is dispersed (Erford, 2015, p. 250). The standard deviation is a measure of how the scores cluster around the mean. The greater the standard deviation, the greater the spread of scores.

Inferential statistics are used to make inferences from the sample to the population. All inferential statistical procedures are based on probability theory. They are used to test hypotheses. Three commonly used inferential statistics are chi square, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Chi square is used with nominal data to determine if the observed expected frequency differs significantly from the expected frequency. A t-test is used to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference between the means of two groups. ANOVA is used to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference between the means of three or more groups.
Statistical Significance
When a quantitative study tests a hypothesis, it is technically the null hypothesis being tested. The null hypothesis says there is no difference between the groups, or relationship between the variables (depending on the research design). If the statistical procedure indicates there is statistical significance, the null hypothesis is rejected, meaning that the probability is high that there really is a group difference or strong relationship between the variables.

Quantitative research methodology uses a deductive reasoning process (Erford, 2015, p. 5). It is based on philosophical assumptions that are very different from those that support qualitative research. Quantitative studies fall under what is broadly described as a positivist perspective. Epistemologically, knowledge is something that is believed to be objective and measurable, and the nature of reality (that is, ontology) is such that there is one fixed, observable, and definable reality. Quantitative research can be categorized in different ways. Brief descriptions of some designs appear below. The chosen research design is determined by the nature of the inquiry, that is, what the researcher wants to learn by conducting the study.

Experimental Research
Experimental research, one of the quantitative designs, involves random selection and random assignment of subjects to two or more groups over which the researcher has control. This is what distinguishes experimental studies from the other designs. Experimental studies in counseling are not that common, because many research questions do not lend themselves to random selection and assignment for ethical reasons. Experimental studies compare the effect of one or more independent variables on one or more dependent variables. Independent variables fall into two broad categories. One type of independent variable involves measuring some characteristic inherent in the study's participants, such as their age, gender, IQ, personality traits, income, or education level. These demographic or blocking variables are not something which the researcher can manipulate, though the researcher can statistically control for them. The treatment or experimental conditions that the researcher sets up is the other type of independent variable, which is unique to experimental designs. The element of control is what permits researchers to conclude that one variable has caused a change in another variable.
Quasi-Experimental Research
Quasi-experimental research designs come in many different forms. Like experimental research, the researcher aims to compare the effect of the independent variable under their control on the dependent variable. However, the researcher does not or cannot randomly assign individual participants to treatment and control groups, so cause-and-effect relationships cannot be as strongly inferred from the results. Pre-existing conditions of one group in comparison to the other may confound the findings. An example might be a study to examine the potential effects of a new curriculum aimed at reducin.

Since, Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or TF-CBT has been found to be very successful with children and adolescents why hasn't there been much if any research done to see if it would be effective for adults as well? TF-CBT is an evidence based program that addresses childhood symptoms of PTSD

. Research has shown that TF-CBT it has as "well-established" efficacy and in a recent study it was the only treatment to be given the highest rating in all reviews

. Having used the treatment method myself with a client during my internship I've seen the effectiveness first hand on how it can impact a client in a positive manner. While the treatment was made with children in mind, it brings up the question of why it hasn't been tweaked in a way that it might benefit an adult as well.
What's great about TF-CBT is it's almost like a bunch of different treatments all wrapped up into one. Each treatment is essentially put into a unit or section that the counselor and client will work on. Some of the sections include psycho education, stress management, cognitive coping, etc.. Stress management, in my opinion, is probably one of the most important sections to go over with the client. If the client doesn't know how to deal with their stress than the rest of the treatment will be for naught because the client won't be able to control their stress. The stress management section focuses on teaching the cl controlled breathing, thought stopping and relaxation techniques.
A mind-body skills program was made in Gaza to essentially determine how effective these things were for people's overall quality of life in people with PTSD, depression, and anxiety

. They did a 10 session mind-body skills group that included meditation, guided imagery, breathing techniques, autogenic training, biofeedback, genograms, and self-expression through words, drawings, and movement

At the end of the program they found a significant improvement in overall quality of life in the clients that participated in the program, and at a 10 month follow-up the improvements were fully maintained

Chang et al. (2016) conducted a study to determine if there was an answer to the contradicting study results regarding the brain activity in schizophrenics and their siblings. Earlier research has given mixed results stating that schizophrenics have excessive brain activity and others show that they have incoherent activity. The same mixed results showed up in research on siblings of schizophrenics. This study used amplitudes of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) as well as regional homogeneity (Reho). The used the ALFF and Reho to track the intensity as well as any synchronization of local spontaneous neuronal activity among three groups of participants (Chang et al., 2016).
Repovs and Barch (2012) conducted a study using a similar research design but instead they were looking for how functional connectivity may differ in schizophrenics when there is no cognitive task involved, a light cognitive task, and then a more demanding cognitive task. The study used participants who were diagnosed with schizophrenia and their siblings, and health individuals and their siblings. These four different groups helped to determine if there was any difference between a sibling of an individual with schizophrenia compared to siblings that were not impaired. The study focused on the working memory of the individuals. fMRI scans were used as well as other basic imaging and recall memory assessment activities (Repovs & Barch, 2012).
The study conducted by Chang et al. (2016) was using reliable testing techniques in regards to the neuronal activity that was tracked. The sample size was not very large but did have the randomized factor by comparing the results to not one but two variables (siblings and non-related healthy individuals). Had the sample size been larger the results could likely be more generalizable. The participants were gathered using participants from a other studies the researchers had done. There were 27 participants who were diagnosed with schizophrenia, 27 non effected siblings, and 27 healthy unrelated participants. The research design was used to map the activity in the brain of all three groups in different circumstances so they could compare the results to find any commonalities or clear differences. This method of research helped to determine if there was any validity to the claims of either excessive brain activity or incoherent activity in schizophrenics and their siblings. This study seems to be a quasi-experimental study since it has a group used for comparison but it does not use random assignment (Sherperis, Young & .

In my experience, I have seen both effective and ineffective leaders. Effective leaders have a number of positive characteristics. The most important characteristics is passion. In order to be effective, one must display a passion in their role. Passion is essential in higher education. While decision making is a critical part of being a leader, it should be accompanied with passion. Passion helps leaders to strive for the best interest of those who would be affected. For example, at an institution I worked at, there was a struggle of power between the dean of students and other administrators. The dean was attempting to meet the needs of the students by utilizing the budget to upgrade the student center; however, administration saw the need to utilize funds for other means. The passion of the dean to serve the students is what provided fuel to fight for change. Passion isn’t the only characteristic to be an effective leader of change. Good judgement and active listening are characteristics that an effective leader must also have. In order to strategically be effective, one must listen to the concerns of the stakeholders of the stakeholders and utilized good judgement in navigating the best interests of the institution.

Our team identified as an issue the education system in Puerto Rico. Some of the factors which we believe are the main cause of this problem are; the absence of a limited formal educational philosophy, excessive centralized system, financial resources, compounded by uncertainty in the economy dependent on the metropolis, a archaic and obsolete education law dating from 1903, which confers excessive powers to the Secretary of Education in issues like making management decisions, budget, curriculum, monitoring, evaluation and staff throughout the system. Also the lack of coordination between operating regional and local levels trade, which, in turn, other public institutions and finally the lack of continuity due to changes in government and inadequate supervision of teachers.

Initial Resolutions
To improve or contribute to the education of our people, the main thing is a degree of commitment that has every one of the people who are in charge of our education.
Promote activities in which parents and children interact and simultaneously they are contributing something to society would be one of our proposals.
Our second proposal to the Department of Education would work with the multiple intelligence of students for classes more interactive. Not all students work in the same way, and many stay back. They should promote activities that arouse the interest of students and help growth and intellectual and cultural life of each performance to feel appreciated.
We understand that to improve or contribute to the system of education of our people, the main thing is the commitment that each one of the people who are in charge of our education have.

Helping students learn according to their learning styles and multiple intelligence preference is finally becoming accepted as an instructional strategy. Many students naturally learn how to learn when they realize they learn better from one resource or strategy over another. For many learners, this concept is too refined or it flies in the face of the teacher authority. Young children like to learn with hands-on methods, but the system quickly moves them to learn by listening. Parents try to help by pointing to smart students and suggesting that their offspring emulate the learning strategies that work for others. Following the path set by others won't work. In fact, we all learn differently. It's a wise parent and facilitative instructor who realizes this and helps the student identify their strategies to meet it. As we work extensively in technology, we see that learners now have access to a variety of instructional strategies. In many cases, the learner selects the path to the strategy. The search for knowledge becomes the learner's intrinsic reward, rather than an extrinsic reward provided by external authority. This may make the learner more motivated because they find it easier to learn. Research in learning technologies may eventually show us that students learn more quickly and deeply so that they apply the information and solve problems. A school can be in the worst neighborhood, but a satellite dish on the roof and fast Internet access on ten classroom computers, positively impacts learning. It could be that we're saving generations of children. Many learning style models exist; my favorite is Albert Canfield's. It has a strong research base, uses clear language, reports in percentiles, and helps stude.

Introduction
Understanding the use of basic statistical strategies is part of being a critical consumer of published research literature. Unless they plan to conduct research themselves, it is not as important for counselors to understand the mathematical calculations of the statistical techniques as it is to be able to recognize the names of the common ones and what kind of information they provide. There are several commercially-available software packages for analyzing quantitative data, one of which is described in detail in Chapter 14 of

Descriptive and Inferential Statistics
In quantitative studies, statistical techniques are used for data analysis. The two main categories of statistics are descriptive and inferential. Descriptive statistics are used to summarize the data. Some common descriptive statistics are the measures of central tendency: the mean, median, and mode. They provide information about where the middle is in distribution of scores. On the normal distribution, the mean, median, and mode are the same. Distributions are said to be skewed when extreme scores draw the mean away from the middle of the distribution. Measures of variability, such as the range, variance, and standard deviation, provide information about how widely a distribution of scores is dispersed (Erford, 2015, p. 250). The standard deviation is a measure of how the scores cluster around the mean. The greater the standard deviation, the greater the spread of scores.

Inferential statistics are used to make inferences from the sample to the population. All inferential statistical procedures are based on probability theory. They are used to test hypotheses. Three commonly used inferential statistics are chi square, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Chi square is used with nominal data to determine if the observed expected frequency differs significantly from the expected frequency. A t-test is used to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference between the means of two groups. ANOVA is used to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference between the means of three or more groups.
Statistical Significance
When a quantitative study tests a hypothesis, it is technically the null hypothesis being tested. The null hypothesis says there is no difference between the groups, or relationship between the variables (depending on the research design). If the statistical procedure indicates there is statistical significance, the null hypothesis is rejected, meaning that the probability is high that there really is a group difference or strong relationship between the variables.

Introduction
Quantitative research methodology uses a deductive reasoning process (Erford, 2015, p. 5). It is based on philosophical assumptions that are very different from those that support qualitative research. Quantitative studies fall under what is broadly described as a positivist perspective. Epistemologically, knowledge is something that is believed to be objective and measurable, and the nature of reality (that is, ontology) is such that there is one fixed, observable, and definable reality. Quantitative research can be categorized in different ways. Brief descriptions of some designs appear below. The chosen research design is determined by the nature of the inquiry, that is, what the researcher wants to learn by conducting the study.

Experimental Research
Experimental research, one of the quantitative designs, involves random selection and random assignment of subjects to two or more groups over which the researcher has control. This is what distinguishes experimental studies from the other designs. Experimental studies in counseling are not that common, because many research questions do not lend themselves to random selection and assignment for ethical reasons. Experimental studies compare the effect of one or more independent variables on one or more dependent variables. Independent variables fall into two broad categories. One type of independent variable involves measuring some characteristic inherent in the study's participants, such as their age, gender, IQ, personality traits, income, or education level. These demographic or blocking variables are not something which the researcher can manipulate, though the researcher can statistically control for them. The treatment or experimental conditions that the researcher sets up is the other type of independent variable, which is unique to experimental designs. The element of control is what permits researchers to conclude that one variable has caused a change in another variable.
Quasi-Experimental Research
Quasi-experimental research designs come in many different forms. Like experimental research, the researcher aims to compare the effect of the independent variable under their control on the dependent variable. However, the researcher does not or cannot randomly assign individual participants to treatment and control groups, so cause-and-effect relationships cannot be as strongly inferred from the results. Pre-existing conditions of one group in comparison to the other may confound the findings. An example might be a study to examine the potential effects of a new curriculum aimed at reducin.

Since, Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or TF-CBT has been found to be very successful with children and adolescents why hasn't there been much if any research done to see if it would be effective for adults as well? TF-CBT is an evidence based program that addresses childhood symptoms of PTSD

. Research has shown that TF-CBT it has as "well-established" efficacy and in a recent study it was the only treatment to be given the highest rating in all reviews

. Having used the treatment method myself with a client during my internship I've seen the effectiveness first hand on how it can impact a client in a positive manner. While the treatment was made with children in mind, it brings up the question of why it hasn't been tweaked in a way that it might benefit an adult as well.
What's great about TF-CBT is it's almost like a bunch of different treatments all wrapped up into one. Each treatment is essentially put into a unit or section that the counselor and client will work on. Some of the sections include psycho education, stress management, cognitive coping, etc.. Stress management, in my opinion, is probably one of the most important sections to go over with the client. If the client doesn't know how to deal with their stress than the rest of the treatment will be for naught because the client won't be able to control their stress. The stress management section focuses on teaching the cl controlled breathing, thought stopping and relaxation techniques.
A mind-body skills program was made in Gaza to essentially determine how effective these things were for people's overall quality of life in people with PTSD, depression, and anxiety

. They did a 10 session mind-body skills group that included meditation, guided imagery, breathing techniques, autogenic training, biofeedback, genograms, and self-expression through words, drawings, and movement

At the end of the program they found a significant improvement in overall quality of life in the clients that participated in the program, and at a 10 month follow-up the improvements were fully maintained

. This shows that one of the major parts of treatment in TF-CBT can be effective and makes me wonder even more if more research was done could an adult-version of TF-CBT be made and implemented while still be as effective and successful as the child/adolescent version

Chang et al. (2016) conducted a study to determine if there was an answer to the contradicting study results regarding the brain activity in schizophrenics and their siblings. Earlier research has given mixed results stating that schizophrenics have excessive brain activity and others show that they have incoherent activity. The same mixed results showed up in research on siblings of schizophrenics. This study used amplitudes of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) as well as regional homogeneity (Reho). The used the ALFF and Reho to track the intensity as well as any synchronization of local spontaneous neuronal activity among three groups of participants (Chang et al., 2016).
Repovs and Barch (2012) conducted a study using a similar research design but instead they were looking for how functional connectivity may differ in schizophrenics when there is no cognitive task involved, a light cognitive task, and then a more demanding cognitive task. The study used participants who were diagnosed with schizophrenia and their siblings, and health individuals and their siblings. These four different groups helped to determine if there was any difference between a sibling of an individual with schizophrenia compared to siblings that were not impaired. The study focused on the working memory of the individuals. fMRI scans were used as well as other basic imaging and recall memory assessment activities (Repovs & Barch, 2012).
The study conducted by Chang et al. (2016) was using reliable testing techniques in regards to the neuronal activity that was tracked. The sample size was not very large but did have the randomized factor by comparing the results to not one but two variables (siblings and non-related healthy individuals). Had the sample size been larger the results could likely be more generalizable. The participants were gathered using participants from a other studies the researchers had done. There were 27 participants who were diagnosed with schizophrenia, 27 non effected siblings, and 27 healthy unrelated participants. The research design was used to map the activity in the brain of all three groups in different circumstances so they could compare the results to find any commonalities or clear differences. This method of research helped to determine if there was any validity to the claims of either excessive brain activity or incoherent activity in schizophrenics and their siblings. This study seems to be a quasi-experimental study since it has a group used for comparison but it does not use random assignment (Sherperis, Young & .

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the

Provide support for your viewpoint that will address potential issues raised by people who disagree. Peer Response I think that the idea that teachers have to sell their ideas is understandable but at times unnecessary. I should not have to sell someone of power on the idea that my school needs more resources when you can clearly see it. I understand that at times, you may have to sell specifics on how to get those resources (to an extent), but teachers work in this field everyday, our voice should have more say than anyone’s and I do not think it always does. It is one thing to tell someone an idea but it is another when I have to try to convince you of something that is evident. My school district is pretty much behind any type of academic reform we can introduce in our classroom. My district is actually reshaping our whole system;
- 2. “The urgency of the reform effort was necessitated by low student performance outcomes, the low-student performance outcomes, the introduction of significantly higher academic standards, an organization culture challenged by mistrust and negative public perception of the school system” (MNPS,p.1, 2012). MNPS has employed a ‘Theory of System Change’ that embodies (MNPS, p.3, 2012) which fosters personalized learning in the classroom. Research has shown that this component will improve the “student success rate”. I see stakeholders at the school I serve in 3 phases/tiers. I look at the relationships of the administration (principals, district personal, investment members and instructional coaches), relationships of the instructional staff (teachers and support staff) and finally the relationships of community stakeholders (community members, students and parents). The 3 tiers I have mentioned is also the way I would prioritize communication. I would first want to get buy in from the individuals who makes the decision and would the adopters of my program. I would want to consider their overall vision and needs for this school which is step 3 in the developmental and information decision process models ‘visualization’ of the adopter. I know that there are opposing views to the way I view stakeholders. The last tier I mentioned is not to say that those groups of people are least important, in fact they are the reason that we do what we do, so I would like to address all the other groups in order to serve students and community holistically. In a study conducted by Hughes, Matt, and O’Reily (2015) they noted that [teacher] “participants responded regarding their experiences of perceive support, received support, and how they feel support affects teacher retention” (p.130). Emotional, technical, instructional, and environmental supports are the four fields of teacher support that were being assessed by the researchers. These areas were critical to teacher retention. To ensure that all employees in our school district is experiencing
- 3. the best care I would first issue training to hour human resources department and school leaders. This would be mandatory. I would also establish an employee advocacy system, where employees can be heard and opportunities for promotions is made available to all employees regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, and etc. Initial Post "Political Underpinnings" Please respond to the following: Imagine that you are attending a community meeting in which a policy to meet bilingual education is under discussion. Adopt the role of parent, teacher, administrator, or politician, and take a position about how this change should (or should not) occur. Support your position with three reasons. Determine the biggest opposition to the proposed school transformation in this community and then provide one recommendation of how it can be overcome. Peer Post Imagine that you are attending a community meeting in which a policy to meet bilingual education is under discussion. Adopt the role of parent, teacher, administrator, or politician, and take a position about how this change should (or should not) occur. Support your position for three reasons.
- 4. Parent My position as a parent is my child needs measures in place for him or her to be able to proper learning. He or she will not be able to comprehend the material presented if measures are not put in place to assist with the language barrier. My suggestion is to have a bilingual teacher assistant come in weekly to work with the students on learning the English language. Teacher My position as the teacher is the students that are bilingual at times struggle with keeping up with the class due to the language barriers. Bilingual learners should be offered the same learning experience as non-bilingual peers. My suggestion would offer time in the day when students are removed from class to learn the does and don’ts of the English language. This will enhance the student’s language skills and communication skills. Administrator My position is that all my students deserve equal opportunity to achieve academically. We are needing to break down learning barriers that exist in our schools today. Bilingual students need more resources in place to help them transform into effective English learners. Politician My position as a politician is this could become an expensive resource for the district. The district is working under a strict budget and is unable to bring in teachers assistants or teachers. Even though both are on different pay grades each is just too
- 5. much for the district budget to cover at the time. My suggestion is to allow teachers who may already be bilingual speaking individuals to form a group to offer resources throughout the year to strengthen student’s abilities to achieve as English Language Learners. Determine the biggest opposition to the proposed school transformation in this community and then provide one recommendation of how it can be overcome. The biggest opposition for school transformation in this community is funding. Adopting new bilingual learner resources will take funding that the school claims to not have. My recommendation is to get the community more involved. By creating a fundraiser that will help to purchase or supply the necessary funds needed to offer bilingual learners resources needed to be successful ELL.
