This document contains feedback from Charlotte Pawson on different ideas for recipe card designs with a Thai food theme. It includes 5 ideas for the design of the recipe cards with varying layouts, colors and styles. Feedback was provided on each idea that highlighted positive aspects like visually appealing patterns and colors as well as areas for improvement such as making text more readable. Based on the feedback, Charlotte identified her favorite idea as idea 4 due to the colors matching the Thai theme and the booklet style providing ample space for ingredients and instructions.

For my first idea I have chosen
to produce a very simple and
straight forward look for the
recipe card. To give the recipe a
Thai theme I have used a
paisley pattern. At the top of
the recipe card there is a large
place for the image to be
displayed, showing what the
product should look like, or
offering a serving suggestion.
Underneath the image I have
place a bold white box, in which
will contain the ingredients list
and the method to make the
product.

What do you like about the idea?
I like that the pattern on the recipe card connotes with the food product that
is being seen. It also makes the simple design of the card seem more
appealing and attractive.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
Perhaps the box in which the ingredients list and method are put in could be
a different colour instead of just white, this could make the product seem
more interesting.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
I like how simple the design is and how it also looks quite fresh, I think it looks
easy to use and user friendly. This will make the product more likely to sell.

I have chosen this idea because
I think it goes with my theme
overall, the shape of the card is
very girly and the pattern in the
background gives it an oriental
kind of feel to the recipe card,
as my theme is Thai food. I feel
that there is plenty of room for
me to fit my list of ingredients
and the method used to make
the product. I have left a small
space at the bottom of the page
to display an image of the
product the consumer will be
producing, giving them an idea
of what it should look like.

What do you like about the idea?
I like how the colour and patterns within the card correspond with the food
product being made. I think it makes the product seem very appealing and
eye-catching.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
There could be a bit more room for the ingredients and method to be listed,
as you may need to make the text quite small to ft in the shape of the card,
which could make it hard to follow and read for the customer.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
I think the shape of the card is interesting. I think it makes the product
different to others on the market, which could make it more desirable to the
specific target audience.

Recipe Name
For my third idea I have chosen to produce a booklet-like
recipe card. The recipe card would be designed with the
recipe name on the front, and an image of the product on
the back. Inside the booklet, there will be the ingredients
list on the top and the method on the bottom. Devoting
the entire inside of the booklet to the ingredients list and
the method gives me enough room to write every last
detail, as some recipes can quite lengthy. The colour
scheme I have chosen is black and white, I have chosen a
simple colour scheme to give the recipe card the illusion of
the recipe being simple.

What do you like about the idea?
I like the colour scheme to this idea as it looks professional and simplistic.
Also the white text will stand out more on the black background, which will
make it easier for the audience to read.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
I don’t think there is much to be developed on with this, idea.

decided to produce another

What do you like about the idea?
I like the colours, I think they stand out extremely well and the amount of
space that there is on the card makes it look really professional. This is a really
good design for a recipe card.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
What image would you have on the front of the recipe card if you have a
photograph of the finished meal on the back? How big is this card going to be.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
The fact that it is a booklet makes it really interesting and different.

For my fifth idea I have chosen another
booklet style recipe card. I think for my
final design I will definitely use this kind
of design, as of the reasons I have
stated before, that it’s efficient and
doesn’t look cramped.

What do you like about the idea?
The colours stand out really well, and compliment each other. These kinds of soft
colours may be better for deserts instead of main meals depending on your
audience.
What areas of the idea could be developed?
The photograph of the recipe could be placed differently on the recipe card. It
may be better if the photograph was on the front page of the booklet, and taking
up the whole side of the page.
What do you find interesting about the idea?
I find the shape interesting, its different and stands out. It is bottom heavy which
will make it easier to stand up if needed.

12. Summary of Feedback
What do you agree with from your feedback?
I agree that the patterns I used in my first two ideas connote the image I have used,
and that they also make the recipe card look interesting. I also agree that the box in
which the method and ingredients are in, in idea one should be a different colour, as
white doesn’t match the rest of the card. I also agree that in idea four the colours I
have used match my theme and make the card look professional.
What do you disagree with from your feedback?
I would not say that I disagree with much that has been said in my feedback, all of my
ideas could have been improved and the feedback has really helped me come up with
a decision.

13. Idea Evaluation
Which idea that you came up with is your favourite and why?
My favourite idea is idea four. This is my favourite because I like the shape of the card
and I think the main colour I have used for it really matches the Oriental theme I was
aiming for, I also like the idea of my recipe card looking like more of a booklet.
Which idea, that your team came up with, is your favourite and why?
As I was working on my own my answer would be the same as the one above, I really
liked this recipe card and I plan on using this for my final design.
