The draft version of an opening film title featured the production company "Moonlight Studios" but had spacing issues fitting the words around the moon graphic. The filmmakers changed the name to "Moon Studios" for the final version, allowing both words to fit more clearly on the left and right sides of the moon without overlapping issues or missing letters.
The document analyzes the documentary "Supersize Me" and discusses the various film techniques used to convey its message. It describes how graphics are used to set the theme of critiquing McDonald's and portray quotes and facts. Archive footage and a montage of overweight Americans illustrate the speaker's words. Graphics also depict the growth of girls in an obesity lawsuit. The main subject is introduced with direct camera address. The documentary's title is shown with graphics using McDonald's colors. Various shots are used to follow the subject's 30 day McDonald's binge and health checks.
This document discusses different types of documentaries: fully narrated documentaries which use voiceovers to guide viewers; fly on the wall documentaries which use little commentary to give an observational view; self-reflexive documentaries where filmmakers talk directly to viewers; docu-dramas which reenact real events through dramatization; and docu-soaps which follow groups of people in an observational style. Each type has strengths and weaknesses in how they inform or engage audiences.
This document contains the results of a survey about an indie music magazine prototype created by Alex Cooke. The survey asked respondents their opinions on various aspects of the magazine like the name 'iD', the front cover, contents page, double page spread, color scheme, bands featured, and content. Questions gauged what respondents liked and disliked as well as their willingness to purchase the magazine and read specific articles based on the cover design. The feedback will help Alex Cooke improve the prototype magazine.
The magazine cover features a medium close-up photograph of a smiling female student studying in a school common room, with a book in front of her. The magazine is called 6form and its coverlines promote an exclusive interview with the new head girl, a story on school alumni, and a piece on new students.
This document contains a single name - Alex Cooke. No other details are provided about this person such as their age, occupation, or other biographical information. The brevity of this document leaves many unknown details about the person named.
The band Subculture has had a breakout year after being discovered by a local club owner who was impressed after seeing them play in a friend's garage. The band, consisting of Joe Bowly, Sam Taylor, Chrissy Moore, and Sam Langan, have been together for over a year and released their first EP. While they each have different musical influences, they enjoy covering a variety of indie and rock songs during their live performances. They see their future success over the next five years depending on how their next two years of releasing new music and performing locally goes while also finishing their education.
The document evaluates the media product of a school magazine cover page and contents page. For the cover page, conventions like a large masthead, coverlines, and prominent main image were used. Adobe Photoshop was used to create professional-looking text and crop/edit the main image. Strengths included fitting magazine conventions, but it could have included more coverlines and a more eye-catching color scheme. The contents page was made with the more complex Quark software and included numbered articles and continuity images, but did not look as professional due to random image placement and same color scheme. Quark has useful features but is more difficult to use than Photoshop.
The document contains 12 questions for a band about their origins, music, and influences. It then discusses choosing a local indie band called Subculture, consisting of four 16-17 year old boys, to fit the promoter's genre and relate to their target teenage audience. The rest of the document outlines different layout designs for a magazine spread, including using columns, drop quotes, and images bled across pages in red, black and white color schemes.
The document appears to be a survey about music preferences and magazine readership. It includes pie charts and bar graphs showing results like 80% of respondents listen to indie music, the most common colors associated with "indie" are black and white, and the majority would be attracted to a magazine that includes free music posters or gig listings. It also collects demographic information such as gender, age and purchase frequency.
I opened a new page in Quark software to create a three-column contents page, inserting a title in Gill Sans font to match the magazine cover. I added the main front page image cropped to the right size and largest to feature the biggest article. Following this, I included information on both feature and regular articles, then additional images with page numbers to complete the contents page criteria, along with a large pink rectangle.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
