David Livingstone was a Scottish Congregationalist missionary and explorer born in 1813 in Blantyre, Scotland. He died in 1873 in Chief Chitanbo's village in Africa. Livingstone explored southern and central Africa, identifying major geographical features like Lakes Tanganyika, Nyasa, and Bangweulu. His observations allowed large regions of Africa to be mapped. He became famous for his discoveries in Africa and named Victoria Falls. The Livingstone Museum in Zambia commemorates his legacy.
