1. DANGEROUS WEATHER
Our planet is called Earth. The Earth travels round the sun. The sun gives us
light and heat.
In a desert there is very little water.
The Atacama Desert is the driest desert in the world. This desert is
in South America. In some parts of the desert there are no plants or
animals for thousands of miles.
The Sahara Desert, in Africa, is the biggest desert in the world.
In the UK it usually rains. There are other places in the world with many
rainy days. One mountain in Hawaii can have 350 days of rain a year.

2. Sometimes it is cloudy in winter.
Sometimes cold weather can be very dangerous. A blizzard is when it is very
windy and snowy at the same time. It is very difficult to walk and drive a
car with this weather. We must be careful, and it is better to stay at home.
In spring, the snow on mountain melts. Sometimes lots of snow and ice falls
down the mountain. This is called an avalanche.

3. A tornado is a special wind. It happens in hot weather when the air starts to
spin around faster and faster.
Sometimes after a hot summer day there is thunder and lightning. This is
called a storm.
