Machu Picchu is an old Inca city located in the Andes Mountains of Peru that was built in the 15th century by Pachacuti. The Incas abandoned the city in the 16th century. It was rediscovered in 1911 by American historian Hiram Bingham, who uncovered the lost city overgrown with vegetation.
