3. Overview
Syntel is a leading global provider of Information Technology and Knowledge
Processing services. They help global enterprises evolve their core IT
applications, infrastructure and business processes by leveraging intelligent
automation, scaled agile development and cloud computing solutions.
Syntel’s HealthCare client had dozens of staff already working on a number of
disparate systems and needed expert training to ensure their data teams could
manage, integrate, optimize and enrich the organization's exponentially growing
volume of data. Without proper training, Syntel’s integration goals faced risks
that were unacceptable to either company.
To meet the demand of their HealthCare client, Syntel hired 15 new business
intelligence professionals and faced the challenge of training all of them at once
in Informatica, to ensure the team could maximize efficiencies, work consistently
and follow the same standards.
In order to reduce risk and ensure a smooth integration, Syntel approached
ExistBI to design and implement an effective Informatica training program.

4. Process
At kickoff, Syntel tasked ExistBI to take the lead in gathering requirements,
interviewing multiple stakeholders and team members both on-site and remotely.
Our Informatica trainers then established a powerful and focused curriculum for
training the new team, delivering a custom training agenda that was on-point and
relevant to the delegates job description.
Through the requirement gathering process, we determined that training the team
in Informatica PowerCenter Developer, PowerCenter Administration and
Informatica Data Quality would accomplish their goals.

5. Solution
Our team established a training program consisting of eight days’ custom
Informatica data integration, four-days of Informatica administration training and
four-days of data quality training for the development team.
A hotel conference room in Southern California was hired by the client for 16
consecutive week days of instructor-led classroom training. The lab environment
was configured and tested. We delivered the printed materials to the hotel
reception in-advance.
The trainer was tasked to provide daily feedback and a final grade.
Our trainers also created a ‘final’ test for each course to help the client gauge who
was ready to move forward to hands-on project work.

6. Results
At the end of the two week training program, the 15 BI professionals had gained
in-depth knowledge of best practices for Informatica PowerCenter Developer,
PowerCenter Administration and Informatica Data Quality.
The team was well prepared to take on the task of integrating the client’s
disparate data systems quickly and efficiently. This greatly lowered the risks
involved in data integration for both Syntel and their client, and led to a smooth
process in analysing and integrating the data.
