The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) was established in 1973 under an ordinance to formulate policies and strategies to promote the timber industry, develop forest resources, and ensure benefits are shared equitably. STIDC aims to enable the state government to coordinate and implement timber industry development. It established a vendorship program in 1996 to support Bumiputera entrepreneurs in furniture. STIDC inspects vendors' workshops and manages communications and training programs to share information. However, safety practices need improvement to address wood dust risks and other hazards.
