Mark volunteered to help with a community arts festival. However, his good intentions backfired when the retail store's phone number he provided was printed incorrectly in festival advertisements, overloading phone lines and annoying the store manager. As a result, Mark lost his job as assistant manager, even though he had only meant to support the not-for-profit organization. The Board of Directors did not investigate when Mark requested one, leaving him without work and wondering what went wrong when he tried to do a good deed.

Factory Simulation Paper – Part 2
I know that several of you are concerned about the format and length of this paper since they are not defined. Here are some tips that I have learned about Operations Management that might help.
Two ways that business professionals display information is in a Decision Paper or Information Paper. These are both very similar with the only difference being that the information paper is designed to inform a decision maker and a decision paper is providing the information necessary to make a decision. At this point in your short Operations Manager career I would recommend an Information Paper approach. This way you can specifically inform your boss (the CEO) what you have done to the factory and what the results were.
Here is a typical Information Paper format.
Title Page: With your name, the title of your paper (use something real, not MGT 307), and a date
Body:
Start with an introductory paragraph that informs the boss of what you are trying to tell them.
Bottom Line paragraph that says where you are and what is next. This should be short.
Assumptions paragraph that states any assumptions that you made or will have to make in the future.
Facts and Analysis paragraphs are the meat and potatoes. What did you do? What did you expect to happen? What really did happen? Support these facts with graphics. The graphics can be visual displays of data or tables of data. You choose how best to sell your results. You can do this either as a week by week discussion or by a topic (forecasting, scheduling, etc.).
Summary and conclusion: This set of paragraphs brings all of the highlights to a close.
References – if you need them. I don’t require them unless you specifically call out something that the boss may need to take a deeper look at.
Hopefully this format now allows you to tell your story about the three things that you are being graded on:
1. How did your team’s factory improve over time? Use real metrics to show that your team became more effective and more efficient. 15 points
2. What did your team do and how did it affect your team’s results? Use real metrics to show what happened. 50 points
3. What would you do differently and why? Use information from the book/slides/videos/class to support your comments. 35 points
Good luck!

Response Guidelines
Review the posts of your peers and respond to one of them. Address the items they would like you to focus on, but make sure your feedback considers both the content of the material and its presentation. Tell them what you liked about the presentation. Make a suggestion or two for improvement. The thoughtful feedback you give your peers will not only help them improve their work but will also provide you with insights about your own work.

THE ETHICAL DILEMMA SPYING ON UNILEVER INTRODUCTION In Business Ethics as a Rational Choice, John Hooker cited a case study to analyze rational choice based on an issue with espionage. In 2001, John Pepper, Chairman of the Board at
Procter
and Gamble, found out that some of his contractors were spying on
Unilever
, one of his competitors. Information they found was also in the business media a day before, he discovered. Was this ethical, based on generalizable, utilitarian, and virtue ethics? Was it GENERALIZABLE? Generalizable means there must be a reason behind an action, and the action is justified for everyone (p.7). Was it utilitarian? Utilitarian analysis states that the rational choice must maximize utility (p. 6). The marketing professionals did not have to search in the trash for information since the day before they did it, similar information was already in the media. Therefore their actions were unjustifiable. no: it was not generalizable Was it virtue ethics? Virtue ethics must be consistent with broad cultural acceptable behaviors Conclusion P &G's espionage activity did not pass the code of ethics test, since it needed to pass all three to be considered rationally ethical. Therefore, John Pepper's reactions to the issue was valid and justified. Their actions failed in the generalization, utilitarian, and virtue ethics tests. The net usage of the information they found in the trash did not surpass the information found in the news, because it was the same exact information. Therefore it was useless of them to go into the trash in search of secrets. no: it was not utilitarian It is unacceptable in our culture to have our professionals diving into dumpsters to spy on other firms in order to get ahead. Especially after the information was aired in the media, why was this company conducting this espionage. no: it was not virtue ethical References Hooker, J. (2011). Assignment 2.2 Justification Report - Part 2Due Week 5 and wort.docxsherni1
Assignment 2.2: Justification Report - Part 2
Due Week 5 and worth 150 points
In Part 1 of your Justification Report assignment, you built up the following sections: Problem Statement, Overview of Alternatives, Criteria, and Methods. In Part 2, you will revise Part 1 based on your instructor's suggestions and add to it the following sections: Evaluation of Alternatives, Findings and Analysis, and References.
Use the basic outline below to draft your paper. Organize your responses to each question under the following section headings:
· Evaluation of Alternatives (for Questions 1-3)
· Findings and Analysis (for Questions 4-5)
· References (for Question 6)
Write a two (2) page, single-spaced report in which you:
1. Research the two (2) alternatives (i.e. possible solutions) that you've identified in your Part 1 Evaluation of Alternatives section. Record bibliographic information during research.
a. Example: You might research other organizations that have attempted similar solutions to the problem you have identified and explore the results of those experiments.
2. Use what you discover in your research to evaluate each alternative by each of your five (5) criteria.
a. Example: If your research revealed that four companies similar to yours increased productivity after allowing their workers to telework from home three days per week, you might conclude that one of your suggested alternatives – in this case, the option to telework from home three days per week – satisfies one of your criterion of “Productivity” as a high-potential solution to a problem you’ve identified (of decreased worker morale and productivity at Doe’s Electronics). However, additional research might frustrate a recommendation of this alternative if it is found to fall short of other criteria while a second alternative fares better. For instance, a telework alternative might be found to be too costly to implement; too frustrating for consumers who prefer daily, in-person customer service; or too divergent from the company’s brand, “Always there for you!”
3. Organize the assignment by your criteria. Explain in narrative form how each of your two (2) alternatives stacks up against your first criterion. Next, explain how each alternative stacks up against your second criterion, etc.
a. Example: An abbreviated outline of what this longer section might look like based on the above example is below (Note: Only the first two [2] of five [5] required criteria are included to give you a feel for the structure). Your researched findings, represented as circled bullets below, should be explained in two to five (2-5) sentences. Include in-text citations and follow up with References in APA style):

· Productivity
a. Alternative A: Telework from home 3 days per week

In this module, we examined crimes against persons, crimes against property, and white-collar crimes. These crimes are all treated differently by the legislature as well as the media. These differences are a reflection of how society views them. As you consider these differences, you should also consider how these differences have evolved over time.
Tasks:
Prepare a 3- to 5-page report that describes all of the following points:
The differences in the treatment of each type of crime by the legislature. Explore the different crime levels (misdemeanor
vs.
felony) and different punishments.
The differences in the descriptions utilized by the media. How does the media depict the different types of criminals? Have there been any changes?
The differences in the theoretical applications for these types of crimes. How do the theories differentiate between these types of criminal behavior?

In this module, we explore how sexual identity impacts the nature of friendship for all of us. With the legalization of gay marriages and rise of alternative unions, as well as the sociocultural prevalence of much wider acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer identity definitions in society, we are witnessing expanded definitions, beliefs, and values regarding sexual self-identity and the dynamics of friendship.
Philosopher Michael Foucault argues that we have an opportunity to expand our understanding of friendship, beyond the state of the current realm, where our connections remain quite limited: “Society and the institutions which frame it have limited the possibility of relationships (to marriage) because a rich, relational world would be very complex to manage” (p. 207).
Your initial post should be at least 250 words and must provide a minimum of one cited reference in APA style. For assistance with APA style formatting, visit the
Library
or the
Excelsior OWL
.
Please answer one of the following:
How do you perceive changes in social stereotypes, issues, and judgments regarding sexualities as potentially impacting changes in friendship, in the relationships, cultural expressions, and understandings of friendships?
Do you think that the social expansion of acceptance of "LGBTQ" identities and relationships has an impact upon the dynamics of friendship generally in the society?
Do you think that this has changed your own perspective?

Follow your instructor’s guidelines in terms of word count and content.
The most visible manifestation of the Renaissance comes from artistic genius and innovation, but the defining feature of the period is an outlook or worldview called humanism. Both of these developed in a particular set of circumstances, a unique historical context that characterized the northern Italian city-states and that we call the Renaissance. Their dominance of Mediterranean trade made these Italian cities into prosperous commercial centers where powerful merchants displaced the old landed aristocracy in positions of power and influence. The resulting social structure bore little resemblance to the traditional ordered society of the Middle Ages. Another point of uniqueness was Italian cities’ relatively independent political development that led first to republican forms and then to despotism. In the process, they laid the foundations for modern political thought.
Of these two sets of circumstances, the political and the economic, which do you think was most important in creating an environment ripe for the Renaissance to flourish? Why?

In this lab, you will observe the time progression of industrialization and human development to help you write up a scientific paper that centers on the following:
If current human development does not change, will groundwater sustainability be affected? Explain your observations.
Human Impacts on the Sustainability of Groundwater
Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that is needed for survival and well-being depends either directly or indirectly on the natural environment. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, while also helping to fulfill the social and economic requirements of present and future generations.
Part 1
:
Background Information
Planet Earth’s surface is over 70% water, but less than 1% of the water on Earth is considered accessible, usable freshwater for sustaining humans’ and other organisms’ lives. Of the accessible freshwater, approximately 99% is located in aquifers, natural underground water chambers, and other groundwater sources. Unfortunately, humans are depleting the aquifers faster than they can be recharged by the hydrological cycle. Therefore, three quarters of groundwater is considered nonrenewable.
Conditions
The main reason we using groundwater resources mainly for drinking and irrigation. As a result, this not only decreases an important source of freshwater—it also can cause pollution of that groundwater by saltwater intrusion. The recharge rate of groundwater is further hindered by land clearing and deforestation caused by human development. When land is cleared for human development, more flooding occurs, the
transpiration rate
(the amount of water that evaporates into the atmosphere from plants) is reduced, and rainwater is inhibited from adequately
percolating
(penetrating the soil) into the ground to allow for aquifers and groundwater to be recharged.
Figure below shows Saltwater Intrusion
:
(Wright & Boorse, 2010)
Impacts
Forty percent of the world’s food is produced via irrigation. As a result, if the current rate of groundwater usage continues, food production could be drastically reduced worldwide. This reduction in food supply would be detrimental in sustaining the projected worldwide human population of over 10 billion within the next 50 years.

In this lab, you will gather data about CO2 emissions using the .docxLizbethQuinonez813
In this lab, you will gather data about CO
2
emissions using the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Web site (Earth System Research Laboratory, n.d.) to help you write up a scientific report centered around known phenomena of CO
2
emissions, related to the following question:
Would you expect to see an increase or decrease in CO
2
emissions in the data over the past 40 years? Why?
Part 1
:
Introduction
The natural balance that occurs between global atmospheric cooling and warming processes provides an important contribution to the Earth’s varied climates.
Troposphere gases
Planetary albedo from clouds low in the troposphere, sulfur dioxide (SO
2
) from active volcanoes, snow, and ice all reflect incoming solar radiation back into space. This causes a
cooling
effect on climates within a geographical area.
Clouds
high
in the troposphere and greenhouse gases such as water vapor(H
2
O), carbon dioxide (CO
2
) , methane (CH
4
) , and nitrous oxide (N
2
O) have a
warming
effect.
Along with the solar activity, these cooling and warming processes help ensure that the planet’s average surface temperature is a net value that is above freezing, helping to ensure that life is possible.
Theory on CO
2
Emissions
It has been hypothesized that anthropogenic effects (conditions caused by human activity) that are associated with industry, agriculture, and fossil fuel use have enhanced these warming processes by contributing greenhouse gases such as N
2
O, CH
4
,and CO
2
into the troposphere. As a result, CO
2
is believed to contribute the most to the atmospheric warming process.
Pollution
Pollution
is a substance that produces a detrimental change in the environment because of its composition and abundance. Anthropogenic sources of CO
2
fit this description because of the perception that there is evidence of a positive correlation between the increases in anthropogenic CO
2
and increases in temperature. In turn, as temperatures increase, climates can change worldwide, unbalancing ecosystems across the globe.
Strategies
Strategies and prediction models can be used to decrease or eliminate the effects that are associated with a particular pollutant. First, the cause of the pollution must be identified. Then, scientists can create innovate ways to reduce or eliminate its production.

Inferential Analysis
Chapter 20
NUR 6812Nursing Research
Florida National University
Introduction - Inferential Analysis
We will discuss analysis of variance and regression, which are technically part of the same family of statistics known as the general linear method but are used to achieve different analytical goals
ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE
Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used so often that Iversen and Norpoth (1987) said they once had a student who thought this was the name of an Italian statistician.
You can think of analysis of variance as a whole family of procedures beginning with the simple and frequently used t-test and becoming quite complicated with the use of multiple dependent variables (MANOVA, to be explained later in this chapter) and covariates.
Although the simpler varieties of these statistics can actually be calculated by hand, it is assumed that you will use a statistical software package for your calculations.
If you want to see how these calculations are done, you could try to compute a correlation, chi-square, t-test, or ANOVA yourself (see Yuker, 1958; Field, 2009), but in general it is too time consuming and too subject to human error to do these by hand.
IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY
Several terms are used in these analyses that you need to be familiar with to understand the analyses themselves and the results. Many will already be familiar to you.
Statistical significance: This indicates the probability that the differences found are a result of error, not the treatment. Stated in terms of the P value, the convention is to accept either a 1% (P ≤ 0.01), or 1 out of 100, or 5% (P ≤ 0.05), or 5 out of 100, possibility that any differences seen could have been due to error (Cortina & Dunlap, 2007).
Research hypothesis: A research hypothesis is a declarative statement of the expected relationship between the dependent and independent variable(s).
Null hypothesis: The null hypothesis, based on the research hypothesis, states that the predicted relationships will not be found or that those found could have occurred by chance, meaning the difference will not be statistically significant.
Effect size: This is defined by Cortina and Dunlap as “the amount of variance in one variable accounted for by another in the sample at hand” (2007, p. 231). Effect size estimates are helpful adjuncts to significance testing. An important limitation, however, is that they are heavily influenced by the type of treatment or manipulation that occurred and the measures that are used.
Confidence intervals: Although sometimes suggested as an adjunct or replacement for the significance level, confidence intervals are determined in part by the alpha (significance level) (Cortina & Dunlap, 2007). Likened to a margin of error, the confidence intervals indicate the range within which the true difference between means may lie. A narrow confidence interval implies high precision; we can specify believable values within a narrow range ...

Infancy to Early Childhood Case Analysis
Part I:
For this discussion board assignment, you will conduct an interview with a parent who has a child in the early childhood stage of development. In your interview, solicit information to understand the child's development from infancy to early childhood about the area of development assigned to you.
--please explore the social needs of the child's development.
Social Needs: For social needs, use Erikson's psychosocial theory of development.
ALL students should also explore how multi-cultural factors have impacted the area of development you are exploring (i.e., ethnicity, race, gender, socioeconomic status, ableism, religion, sexual orientation and other sub-cultural influences such as military). There are two optional videos in the learning module that will help you think about culture more deeply and generate ideas about possible areas/questions to explore with your interviewee.
Quality posts will integrate material from the textbook to support your analysis of the child's development. All material from the textbook should be cited in APA style. Students should define psychological terms and concepts used; assume your audience is not familiar with developmental psychology.

Introduction
Infectious infections have created increased attention, especially after several outbreaks and pandemics that altered human health globally. Covid-19 and the related infections are the most recent challenges caused by infectious diseases affecting the whole world. This presentation illustrates common infectious diseases in the nature they are caused, their diagnosis, treatment, and possible prevention methods. It shall also describe the common symptoms of infectious diseases and when to seek medical attention.
2
Overview
Overview
Infectious diseases have attracted increased attention globally because of their various occurrence. Its symptoms range from mild to severe, and the treatment and management depend on the cause of infection. Infectious diseases are caused by several pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi, to mention a few. Transmission of pathogens in humans happens in numerous ways, including direct transmission through contact, water, and foodborne infections. Infection from insects such as ticks and mosquitoes can also effectively transmit pathogens.
3
Infectious diseases have numerous occurrences.
Symptoms range from mild to severe.
Pathogens include bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi.
Transmission include through contact, water and food, and insects.
Individuals with a higher risk of infectious diseases

Individuals with a higher risk of infectious diseases
All individuals are at risk of contracting infectious diseases. However, individuals with compromised immune systems are at higher risk of getting infectious diseases. Individuals at higher risks of getting infectious diseases include; people with suppressed immunities, such as patients of cancer, HIV, and recent organ transmissions. People unvaccinated for certain infectious diseases are also considered at higher risk of getting infectious diseases. Other individuals at higher risks of getting infectious diseases are children and healthcare workers.

How Common are infectious diseases?
How Common are infectious diseases?
Infectious diseases are common worldwide. Some infectious diseases are more common and strike more often than others. For instance, infections caused by E. coli are common and may not require medications because they may cause mild signs of complications. In the United States, a fifth of the population is infected with influenza annually. This indicates that infectiou ...

Literature Review: Background to the Problem
10/9/2019
Cognitive theory focuses on experiences in three looping processes, comprehension, memory, and application
According to Goossens (2020), cognitive theories in learning is affected by biology, environment, and social constructs
Bottom-up and top-down influences define experience of learning and thus memory and its retention (Tyng et al., 2017)
Comprehension is interpretative with different people and methodologies of gaining skills require support for better retention of knowledge (Ford et al., 2020)
CONFIDENTIAL
GCU – For Internal Use Only
Objective:
The outline on this slide is used in the Prospectus to develop the Background of the Study in Chapter 1 and the Background of the Problem Space in Chapter 2.
Slide Requirements:
Use either a bulleted format or table format
Describe what is already understood about the problem - Historically, memory retention is dependent on biology, social determinants, and educational roles (Berger et al., 2012)
Present findings from prior research related to the history of the problem space – individual are unique by circumstances, cognition development is different for each person hence memory retention and its experiences are unique. In education sector today, curriculum caters to meeting outcomes of the larger group with less focus on individual pace of learning.
Focus on:
When the problem started – generalization of education and learning environment through general curriculum tends to segregate some learners
What has been discovered about the problem - According to Tyng et al. (2017), “the effects of emotion on learning and memory are not always univalent” it points to the fact that progression is a personal journey such that how learning is understood is directly linked to how it is taught, the environment it is taught in, and the emotional attachments of information processing. Therefore, productivity in learning can only be attained by training and task definition which can be versatile form one person to another.
The current state of the problem – Development of separate special classes for students with learning challenge is beneficial but with poor education systems, the program could be detrimental for the future especially in self teaching learners. With guidance for retention of knowledge being a taught skill, ineffective environments and lack of support could be detrimental especially to disadvantaged communities
Support information with APA compliant in-text citations in your slide, and then make sure to include the full reference for the citation in the List of References slide (last slide of this presentation)

Part 1

All individuals are at risk of contracting infectious diseases.
Individuals with compromised immune systems are at higher risk.
They include;
People with suppressed immunities.

Assignment: Psychotherapy for Clients With Addictive Disorders
Addictive disorders can be particularly challenging for clients. Not only do these disorders typically interfere with a client’s ability to function in daily life, but they also often manifest as negative and sometimes criminal behaviors. Sometime clients with addictive disorders also suffer from other mental health issues, creating even greater struggles for them to overcome. In your role, you have the opportunity to help clients address their addictions and improve outcomes for both the clients and their families.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Individual Case Instructions
You will identify a problem that requires a change initiative
through an organization with which you are associated. You will
develop the final case by clearly explaining the problem, by
including background, and by completing all of the tasks that
are identified below. If you are uncomfortable with using your
organization or do not have sufficient visibility to a problem in
your organization, you may use theNo Good Deedcase instead.
Here are the tasks to be completed:
1. Use the 6681 case outline mar9'17 (1).docxDownload 6681
case outline mar9'17 (1).docx to help you structure the case in a
logical manner.
2. Identify the symptoms that trigger your awareness of the need
for change. This is a short explanation that does not require you
to describe everything about your organization. Instead, list the
set of symptoms that arise from your organization’s current
manner of doing business.
3. Choose one of the following diagnostic models and explain
each and every component of that model to fully analyze where
the real problem exists.
1. The diagnostic models that you may use are: Six-Box, 7-S, or
Star. To use these models correctly, you must discuss,
comprehensively, each component of the model as it relates to
the case.
2. Do not describe the model for the reader. Instead, explain
why you chose the model that you chose as the diagnostic guide.
3. Then, explain your analysis of each model component.
4. Do NOT give recommendations in this section. This section
is about analysis only. The analysis section describes current
conditions.
2. 4. Explain, in detail, the external factors that are impacting
change as they relate to this case. Complete the external table
found in Elements of a case.docxDownload Elements of a
case.docx using the external factors table and the 6681 PESTLE
Analysis.docxDownload 6681 PESTLE Analysis.docx that
specifically describe the factors of the external environment. If
you have a gap in the information in the table, look it up, and
provide current information to complete the table. Again,
do NOT make recommendations in this section of the
case/change plan. Do not tell me what should happen or what
you want to see. Describe ONLY what you find as you analyze
the information you have looked about the external environment
of this industry. Follow the instructions from the lecture videos.
5. Explain, in detail, why the external forces so important to
this situation.
6. Explain, in detail, the internal factors that are impacting
change as the relate to this case. Complete the internal tables
found in Elements of a case.docxDownload Elements of a
case.docxthat specifically describe the factors of the internal
environment. You will find two internal tables that you will
complete. If you have a gap in the information in the table, look
it up, and provide current information to complete the table.
7. Analyze/ Map the organization’s culture by explaining each
component of the Cultural Web as it relates to the case. What
are the notable aspects of the culture?
8. Diagnose structural dilemmas by using Table 5.10. You will
need to reproduce the table to show your analysis. (Did you
include your findings here in your large diagnosis model in
question 6 above? If not, you missed something.) You MUST
interpret the meaning of the score for your client, not in generic
terms, but in terms that apply directly to your client.
3. 9. Assess the organization’s readiness to change by using the
table found in exercise 4.3. You will need to reproduce the table
to show your analysis. Interpret the results of the table.
I. Note: At this point, analysis is completed. You should see all
of the pieces fitting neatly together, such that readiness for
change is noted as either a strength or weakness, structural
dilemmas are classified as either a strength or weakness, and
opportunities and threats are all conditions over which the
organization has no control. They simply exist and must be
taken into consideration before you make you recommendations.
1. Identify your recommendation for either first-order or
second-order change and provide a short explanation about why
you chose this level of change. Be explicit.
1. Design and include a plan for addressing resistance to
change.
1. Explain the lessons that you want learned from your story of
how your organization needs to change. Tell them why.
1. Explain the image of change management that you are using
and why.
1. Using Kotter's 8 Step plan as a model, create an
implementation plan. Be specific by giving dates, timelines,
accountable parties, champions, and anything else that will help
your plan be completed as you intend for it to be completed.
Spell your plan out with steps and graphics. Do NOT give a
generic description of what you wish will happen. Instead, give
the reader a well-developed set of action steps and dates to
guide the organization through the change.
1. Design a communication plan for this change initiative. Be
very specific about how this will be handled.
4. 1. Design an evaluation plan. How will you evaluate your plan?
That is, how will you know that your initiative is successful?
What are the specific markers that will indicate the success of
your change plan? Higher revenues? More transfer of training?
Fewer complaints. You must be specific about what your
measures of success will be.
1. Format, format, format. Make your paper easy to read by
including subheadings for each new piece. Without formatting,
your case is just a jumble of words that lose meaning and
context. Use color. Use graphics. Use figures. Use tables. Use
whatever it takes to keep your reader engaged and wanting to
read more. If the reader looks at a page that is all words and
more words on the next page, your reader will get lost and
disengage from the presentation.
1. Write a conclusion to this piece.
DBA 705 IEE Statement Paper Guidelines
Based on your own interest, choose a contemporary management
issue. Locate four related peer-reviewed articles. You will be
using these same four articles for each of the following
statements.
1. A ONE PAGE integrativestatement of the major themes,
similarities, and differences that run though the articles you
found for each module. This should synthesize, and not just
summarize the summaries. No more than one page per set of
readings.
2. A ONE PAGE evaluativestatement of your perception of the
state of the literature on the topic. A critical evaluation, not
just a summary of the summaries. No more than one page per
set of readings.
3. A ONE PAGE extensionstatement, outlining future research
directions (including theoretical directions) for each module.
This should be creative and flow from your extension statement.
5. No more than one page per set of readings. Questions it should
address could include:
· Where does the research need to go?
· What are unanswered questions that should be addressed?
· What are the implications for the field?
· Are there any trends suggested?

Case Outline
I. Introduction – Take the perspective that you are a consultant
to the organization and they have hired you to help with their
problem. Do not repeat the text of the case. Set assumptions.
For example, when did this happen? Yesterday? Last year?
Describe the environment relative to the time, place, and
industry involved. Introduce the work that will be accomplished
to provide a full plan.
II. Analysis
a. External Analysis – no bullets, explain why you included the
factors as opportunities or threats. Support this portion of the
case with research.
b. Internal Analysis- no bullets, explain why you included the
factors as opportunities or threats
i. Diagnostic model that fits the problem. Talk about each piece
of the model as it relates to the organization. Support this
portion of the case with research. Justify your decision to use
your model. Use the models that are in the text.
ii. Cultural Web
iii. Structural Dilemmas
6. III. Formulation – strategy(ies)/initiatives that will be used to
resolve the problem. Do not suggest a remedy, e.g. using the
phrase “the company should…”. Instead, tell the organization
directly what must happen for them to succeed. These are
recommendations that follow directly from your analysis. For
example, if you determine that the organization is functioning
in a changing industry, e.g. radio and television, your initiatives
need to address that problem as it relates to the central issue. In
the case of McDs, how would using television and radio remedy
the problem of lack of consumer information?
IV. Implementation – Kotter’s Eight Step Model. Each step
defines the action steps that must happen for EACH initiative to
take place. Be very specific – for example, if you want training
to happen, you need to say how many hours of training, who
will be trained, the date by which everyone must be trained,
and any other details that will help the organization do exactly
what it needs to do to successfully change.
a. Plan to address resistance
b. Communication plan
c. Image of change
d. Lessons learned
V. Evaluation – who collects the data? What are the measures?
When are they due? To whom are the results reported? Again,
be very specific. Make this a table that follows all other
portions of your

appropriately, those elements work together to create a change
plan that is aligned from the moment the consumer begins
reading or listening. Everything must work with everything else
to keep the plan on track as a fundamental guide to how you
want a specific change or set of changes to take place. Those
elements are analysis, formulation, implementation, and
7. evaluation. You will see that the chapters in your text support
your work as you learn to develop each of these elements.
Analysis
The analysis phase of the case deals with a scan of external
factors that impact the organization as well as an internal scan
of factors. Below, you will see a table that is designed for your
use in categorizing external factors that impact the organization.
You can type into this table as you work through your analysis
to help organize your work.
Opportunities are advantages that belong to an entire industry,
and the individual organization does not have control over
them. OPEC reduces the price of crude, so oil companies can
reduce the price of gas. The result is that more people buy more
gas. The fuel industry has the opportunity to sell more gas.
Threats are disadvantages that belong to an entire industry, and
the individual organization does not have control over them. For
example, the crash of the housing bubble caused many
companies to fail if they were associated with housing. The
housing industry suffered. Higher gas prices cause people to
buy fewer and smaller cars. The automobile industry suffered. A
health conscious society results in the consumption of fewer
soft drinks. The soft drink industry suffered.

8. Hypercompetition
Below, you will see a table that is designed for your use in
categorizing internal factors that impact the organization.
Strengths are advantages that belong to a single company, and
the company exercises control over the ability to build this
advantage. For example, no matter where I go in the world, I
can recognize a Coca-Cola can. Coke has the strongest brand
identity in the world, because they spent countless dollars
building and exporting their brand. Troy University is #3 in the
United States for technology and information security, because
we have spent many man hours as well as dollars to insure the
safety and security of our information.
Weaknesses are disadvantages that belong to a single company,
and the company exercises control over the ability to build this
disadvantage. For example, a university (not in the U.S.)
recently told me that they had been through four presidents in
the last five years. The impact is that this university is suffering
from new broom changes, many of which have not been allowed
to play out over the course of time. The university is struggling
to keep enrollments up and to provide good service to their
students.

Research and development
Analysis is a description only of the factors that will impact the
organization’s need to change. This is not the place to discuss
what strategies need to take place nor is this the place to
10. introduce your recommendations. Analysis is only a description,
albeit a very detailed description. This is the place to do some
research on the industry and the environment, because many
organizations are simply not familiar with the overall
environment of the industry. Often, they internalize their
problems as “I’m just not good enough” when there are other
factors that contribute to the problem.
Formulation
This is the piece that addresses the goals and strategies that you
recommend for change. Take on the persona of an outside
consultant, and set goals and strategies in an assertive manner.
For example, do not tell the organization that it should improve
sales. That is far too generic and will not help the organization
improve its bottom line. Instead, tell the organization HOW to
improve its sales. Give the organization a set of goals and
strategies that help it to improve sales. Make recommendations
in a straightforward and knowledgeable manner that will help
people in the organization want to change.
Implementation
This is the piece that describes the set of action steps that you
want to see to fulfill the goals and strategies that you created in
the formulation phase. For example, if the goal is to improve
sales and if the strategy is to improve sales through market
penetration, you want to hire more sales people to help cover
the market. The first step in this is to have the HR department
hire more sales people. Tell HR how many people you want to
hire and when those people need to be on the job. In this phase,
you need to be very specific about dates, timelines, who is
responsible, how many of what, and all the details that will help
your change plan become a reality.
Evaluation
Evaluation is a simple phase if your work in the implementation
phase was detailed and provided quantitative expectations. For
example, if you told the company to hire 10 sales people by
Nov. 1, 2013, the measure is quite simple. Did the company hire
10 sales people by Nov. 1, 2013? If not, why not?
11. For evaluation, I suggest that you create a table that includes
the following columns:
Which action step are you measuring? Who is responsible for
reporting results? To whom is that person reporting? When is
the outcome expected? How will the outcome be measured?
What is the expected outcome? Was the outcome met? (This is a
yes or no. Keep it simple and straightforward.)
As you work through your cases we will add a piece to each
case. The “No Good Deed” case focuses on analysis and
formulation. In McDonald’s, we will add implementation.
Finally, in your personal project case, we will add evaluation.
The key to developing a case for change is organization, so
keep this as organized and straightforward as you can. This is
not meant to be tricky, because if it is too tricky, people will
not understand your plan and become resistant immediately. I
prefer plans that answer questions before they can be asked.
Imagine you presenting this case and having the following
conversation during the presentation.
“Why do we need to do this?”
“We need to do this because….. You will find that on page 14.”
If you want to learn to think outside of the box, this is the time
to do it. Anticipate questions and give details. Stay away from
generic directions, such as “You should do more marketing”
and go toward, “We need to spend X dollars on your marketing
over the next 6 months to improve your market share.” When
you evaluate your plan, you can measure dollars, time, and
market share.

WHEN NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED:
THE CASE OF THE MISPRINTED PHONE NUMBER
ABSTRACT
Mark volunteered to help with the community arts festival; he
was supporting the not-for-profit organization as he had in the
past. However, he did not know his good intentions as a
volunteer would cost him his job as an assistant manager. The
retail store’s phone number was printed in the festival
advertising in error and ticket requests overloaded the phone
lines, causing loss of business and annoyed the store manager.
As a result, Mark was seen as the cause of the problems and
terminated. The Board of Directors did not respond to his
request for an investigation, leaving Mark without a job and
wondering what had happened to cause an unhappy experience
when he had such good intentions.
Teaching objectives:

· Provide an example of how various aspects of organizational
life can create negative impacts internal and external to the
organization
13. · Provide an opportunity for critical thinking as noted through
multiple opportunities to incorporate theory and resolve
problems
· Apply organizational-behavior strategies to management
scenarios utilizing a systems approach
· Discuss methods for undertaking planned-change programs
within organizations.

· Create realistic action plans
Mark, the Volunteer
Mark is an employee of a small community drugstore and has
volunteered for different assignments with nonprofit agencies.
One of the assignments he thinks that he will enjoy the most is
working as a member of the core committee which organizes
and runs the yearly community festival for the neighborhood.
Because of his experience with community events, Mark has
been placed in charge of logistics coordination, planning,
security, and public safety. While this appears to be an
extensive workload, Mark has a great deal of previous
experience and understands the tasks that need to be completed.
Because the planning for the festival started a year in advance,
he knows that as the festival grows closer there will be
additional volunteers to assist him, so he will not be
individually responsible for each one of these areas; for now,
the workload is sufficient for one person.
The Community Festival
The community festival is a nonprofit organization that has a
tax exempt status as well as a history of over 20 years. The
organization and the event are run by a board of directors and a
small, permanent staff composed of no more than five
employees at any given time. The goal of the festival is to
14. promote local arts and crafts and to support local artists by
providing a venue through which they can sell their work,
advertise their work, and develop and expand their customer
base. Because the festival has been held for many years, it is
well-known in the area and typically attracts supporters of the
arts and owners of small and independent art galleries as well as
boutique and specialty stores owners who are in search of
unique forms of art for clientele. As a result, the festival has
established a reputation as a well-known venue for local art.
One of the unique aspects of this festival is that it has enjoyed
growth and continuity within the community even though the
community itself was part of a much larger metropolitan area in
the southwestern United States. The identity of the festival has
remained intact and is considered a part of the local community.
Part of the mission of the community festival Board of
Directors is to educate the community about art in addition to
creating a venue for creative expression. During its growth, the
festival’s mission gradually expanded to include educational
and other programs which run throughout the year. However, in
recent times local artists who used to be yearly participants
have drifted away and local funding used to support the festival
is diminishing, because fewer and fewer local artists were
participating. As a result, the Board of Directors focused on
bringing in a nationally known talent and artists in various
fields to attract more participants. Because local funding was
lost, more funding now is being sought through grants. The
focus of the festival is gradually changing from community
artists to a broader scope and more national talent.
The Community Festival Organization
The nonprofit agency that was charged with running the
community festival was made up of a Board of Directors
consisting of 10 appointed positions, including three to five
permanent staff members, one of whom is the supervisor. The
supervisor works at many of the same jobs as the staff members
to support the agency. The supervisor believes that ever yone
15. who works at the agency shares her love of the arts and uses a
laissez-faire management style with the other staff members.
The supervisor believes everyone hired at the non-profit
understands the need to support the organization, and employees
should not need specific instructions to do so; this is the general
opinion also held by the Board. Because the permanent staff is
so small, formal training for the supervisor and staff is not
conducted, primarily because of the lack of funds for training.
All funds are used for the festival and the programs, and the
prevailing attitude is that employees can learn from each other.
Although the nonprofit agency has a mission to support local
artists, the Board of Directors sees no need to take the time to
develop specifics such as rules of conduct, expected behaviors,
or guidelines. The supervisor follows this example, because she
believes that it is important to use their time for the festival and
the programs instead of the permanent staff, especially because
the staff can be managed one-on-one if training needs are
identified. The primary support for the agency initially came
from individual donators and, later on, more grants which
supported the annual event and the ongoing educational
programs. The Board of Directors itself consists primarily of
those who support the arts and the community. Some are serving
as political appointees and none of the members has any
experience in running a business. Volunteers have noted in the
past how there are inconsistencie s in the decisions coming from
the Board of Directors, depending on personal interests and
sometimes as favors for friends.
Volunteers and Staffing
Staffing is always a challenge for supervisor and the Board of
Directors. Many who have the interest and the inclination to
volunteer hold full-time jobs, and many of those jobs were
outside of the community in the larger metropolitan area;
therefore, they have little time to donate because of the time it
takes to commute back and forth from their jobs. Nonetheless,
there are always some volunteers available, but there is turnover
16. from year to year depending on how much time individuals
could contribute, whether or not they have taken a full-time job
in another location, or whether they still remain in the
community.
In the past, a member of the Board of Directors has
acknowledged that staffing is a concern, because those who are
truly interested are not available, and sometimes, when seeking
volunteers, the organization has to “settle” for whoever shows
up. One of the primary concerns is that some of the volunteers
and the permanent staff have exhibited more interest in being
"in charge" than actually supporting the community festival.
When individuals are more worried about who is in charge
rather than what needs to be done, there has been an issue about
what priorities could actually be accomplished and whether
those were personal priorities or festival priorities.
Nevertheless, volunteers are still needed, so all volunteers are
accepted. Some volunteers have known each other for several
years, because they have worked together through the festival
organization, but there was always enough turnover to provide
the need for new volunteers every year.
Internal Issues
Some volunteers have speculated openly over the last few years
on the reasons why volunteers leave. The general consensus
among the volunteers is that personality conflicts or authority
conflicts with other volunteers, and even other staff members,
drove people away. On some occasions staff members were also
aware of political appointees by the Board of Directors. These
appointees were perceived by the general staff and volunteers to
be "untouchable" and their behavior beyond reproach. Poor
interpersonal experiences and ineffective conversations between
volunteers and staff members suggest that staff members are
frequently ineffective in their interactions with volunteers. Such
incidents, when they occur, are shared widely and quickly
among the volunteers through the organizational grapevine, a
highly effective communication method for relaying personal
17. dissatisfaction and personal events with the permanent staff and
other volunteers. One example of a personal experience is a
conversation where a permanent staff member told a volunteer
"if you don't like the way I do things….then you can just leave.
We can always get more volunteers". A witness to that
conversation indicates that the permanent staff member has this
same attitude with other volunteers and has repeated the same
comment or similar comments to other individuals in the
organization on various occasions. Permanent staff members
have also developed a tendency to blame volunteers if
something does not go as planned or if something unplanned
occurs in a manner that causes problems. Volunteers have the
perception that they are the ‘scapegoats’ for the staff and, by
default, for the Board of Directors. This has precipitated a
perception that staff members hold themselves in higher esteem
and at a different level than the volunteers. Volunteers have
become very sensitive to this and discuss it frequently.
External Issues
Local artists who have regularly participated in the festival
provide anecdotal support about similar interactions with
permanent staff. One of the artists indicates that he feels as if
he is an "intruder" when trying to obtain information about
dates and events for the upcoming festival. Others report a
similar lack of responsiveness; more specifically, phone calls
are not returned while other artists note a ‘rude’ tone of voice
and curt treatment by staff members. A number of the artists
who have participated in the past have now elected not to apply
for a vendor position for the upcoming festival. The loss of
local artists has also contributed to the community festival ne ed
to focus on nationally known talent to generate revenues and
interest that have been forfeited through the loss of local artists.
Implementing the Community Festival
About six months before the community festival was scheduled,
the Board of Directors proceeded with the normal activities
required to facilitate the festival. Some of these activities
included activating an 800 phone number to facilitate ticket
18. ordering, publishing the brochure for the festival, and
proceeding with efforts to advertise both inside the community
and outside the community about the upcoming festival. The
Board approved the brochures before they were printed and
distributed, reviewed all information for accuracy and
correctness, and then proceeded with the brochure printing.
The Brochure Incident
One day, Mark is at work in the drugstore where he serves as an
assistant manager when the first call comes through to order
tickets for the festival. Mark is quite surprised, because the
drugstore has nothing to do with the festival. Mark advises the
caller that this is the wrong number if the caller wishes to
purchase tickets. That same day, many more calls come in with
requests to purchase tickets for the festival. Mark is puzzled by
the number of phone calls, because he is certain that the phone
number is incorrect. He can think of no reason why people are
calling the 800 number of the drugstore and asking for festival
tickets. He checks with a member of the Board of Directors the
following day and discovers that the 800 number to order
tickets that is printed in the festival brochure is actually the 800
number of his drugstore. The phone calls have been very
disruptive to business in the drugstore.
After numerous complaints and pleas from the drugstore
manager to adjust the 800-number, the Board of Directors
discuss the problem and decide that the best interests of the
festival are served taking over the 800 phone number at the
drugstore and using it for the festival. This is completely
unacceptable for the drugstore, because it has used this 800
number for many years. The 800 number is integral to the
identity of the drugstore within the community. The drugstore
refuses to give the number to the community festival agency,
and the calls continue. Finally, the festival Board of Directors
request a correction be printed in the brochure, and the
correction to the 800-number is made on the front of the
brochure. None of the corrections are made inside the brochure
where the 800-number is listed multiple times. The Board of
19. Directors considers the "brochure incident" resolved. The calls
still continue at the drugstore.
Several days later Mark calls in to check on the days he is
scheduled to work in the coming week. At that time he is
informed by one of the drugstore employees that he has been
removed from the schedule, and the rumors are that the store
manager blames Mark for the phone number problem as well as
the lost business that resulted from the phone lines being tied
up by calls seeking tickets to the community festival. Mark is
fired because the store manager blames him as being ultimately
responsible for the incorrect phone number, the misdirected
phone calls, and the resulting loss of business.
What Happened?
In an effort to "clear the air" and prove that he is not
responsible, Mark approaches a member of the Board of
Directors of the festival organization and explains that he lost
his job over the misprinted phone number in the community
festival brochure. The Director with whom he speaks apologizes
for the problems and advises Mark to blame the store. The
Director suggests that he, perhaps, consider filing a lawsuit
against the store, because this is not an issue of the community
festival organization or of the Board of Directors but, instead,
between Mark and the drugstore. The Director also offers to
write a letter of recommendation to Mark if he needs this to find
another job. However, when Mark needs a letter of
recommendation and approaches the Director several weeks
later, the Director refuses to provide the letter. Mark is
frustrated, because he believes he is not being treated fairly. He
now writes a letter to the entire Board of Directors and explains
what has happened and asks for an investigation. He never
receives a response or any acknowledgment from the Board of
Directors about his request for an investigation or about the
letter addressed to the Board.
