Indium was electrodeposited from aqueous solutions containing indium trichloride and additives such as acetates, thiocyanates, chlorides, iodides, sulphates, oxalates, ethanol, acetamide, and citrates of sodium or potassium. The optimum conditions for deposition were a pH of 2-5, a current density of 2-25 mA cm-2, a temperature of 30°C, and a metal ion concentration of 0.2 mol/L. Deposits of over 99% pure indium were obtained on a platinum sheet cathode under these conditions.
