Political relations
Since 2000 there has been an annual
EU-India summit, alternating be-
ween New Delhi and the capital
ity of the country that currently
holds the EU Presidency. Separate
annual consultations have been held
with India on specific subjects, such
as human rights, since 2004.
The Netherlands and India work to-
gether to uphold the international
egal order, mainly through organi-
ations such as the United Nations.
Economic relations
The Netherlands is a major investor in
India, through Dutch companies in-
volved in sectors like technology, energy,
logistics, financial services and
transport. Central government seeks out
opportunities for Dutch companies and
tries to attract Indian investment to the
Netherlands.
Exports from the Netherlands to India
include machinery, optical equipment,
cast iron and steel. The main Dutch im-
ports from India are mineral fuels, in-
cluding oil.
Educational and cultural relations
The Netherlands and India main-
tain close relations in the fields of
education and science. For in-
stance, there are exchange pro-
grammes with various universities,
and Indian and Dutch scientists
conduct joint research. The Dutch
