diversity so it is nearly impossible to speak about one

• There are 29 states in total and 7 union territories there are more than 100
festivals that is celebrated almost every year.

• The word generally means “Story Play”
• It is dance that is originated in the
Southern part of India precisely in a
State named Kerala
• The actors rely very heavily on hand
gesture to convey the story.
Odissi dance
• Odissi or Orissi is one of the pre-
eminent classical dance forms of
India which originated in the Hindu
temples of the eastern coastal
state of Odisha in India.
• The earliest evidence of dance by
professional female dancers
(Nartaki) is found in the Stone
figures in caves of Khandagiri and
Udayagiri near Bhubaneswar.Which
makes the dance style really
ancient
