           “ECO-FRIENDLY GANESH”

Our festivals are becoming more fancy today causing threat to the
Environment. In this direction our eco club members listed out various
Festivals and their celebration. Accordingly they decided to take up one
by one and create awareness among the people for the hazards caused
and make them understand how this could be made eco friendly.
In this directction this year we took up GANESHA FESTIVAL . In
this project student listed out the problem of using coloured Ganesha and
their effect on water bodies. As a role model our school. Keep only
colourless clay Ganesha for pooja. same is immersed in the school tank
and the water is let to plants. This is in practice since 2002 our students
decided to creat the awareness among the residents of the weavers colony
area. They involved few schools in the programme, the members of pollution
control board , Heads of the institutions, the Eco-Club members, leaders of the
area were the invites. A procession was taken out on 8th September 2010 with
plucards and holding clay Ganesha and telling the slogans, stressing the need
for Eco friendly Ganesha pooja hand bills, explaining the hazards of coloured
Ganesha was distributed and the student leaders were asked to visit the houses
of the residence of the area, on the festival day to know how much change has
their effert caused. We are happy to say that about 20% of people of the area
used Eco- friendly-Ganesha and we are happy of our students success, in
passing the message to the society. We are sure this message will spread and
many more would joined their hands in our humble efferts of saving our
environment in coming years with this hope we are looking forward to bring
about change in many more leftout areas.
With these information I am here with concluding my report
to you.
