NECESSITY FOR CHANGE School Campus is littered with green leaves falling from the garden trees. It is very important to maintain a clean environment. Thus we need to bring about a change in the situation.
Design for Change contest 2010 What did we change? To
A CLEAN CAMPUS AND MAKING WEALTH OUT OF WASTE - MANURE FOR THE SCHOOL GARDEN Imagine
ARRANGED FOR A VISIT TO  MR.INDRAKUMAR’S ( Senator, EXNORA INTERNATIONAL President, HOME EXNORA ) HOUSE TO LEARN ABOUT VERMI-COMPOSTING DO
ORDERED FOR CEMENT RINGS TO PUT IN THE LEAVES FALLING FROM TREES.
PROCEDURE: Buy cement rings and place one above the other to form a bin, under a tree shade over the soil. Bin height should not exceed 2 feet. Collect the garden waste every day in the bin.
Mix cow dung in water and sprinkle it over the garbage waste. Follow the above two steps every day.
Once the bin is filled, start dumping the garden waste in another bin. Within 90 days, entire garden waste in the first bin will become compost automatically by the action of earthworms (Lampito mauritti) from earth.
After 90 days, the compost can be removed from the first bin and can be used for collection of garden waste. The compost removed from the first bin can be used as manure for the school garden.
Wealth out of waste The organic manure is used for the plants grown in the garden.
