Written Lecture
Unit IV is composed of Chapters 7 and 8. This unit focuses on America during
the time of the American Revolution and the establishment of the early American
republic. The details of the American Revolution are reviewed, and the key
issues with the creation of a truly “free” republic are discussed.
Chapter 7 looks at the two fronts of the American Revolution: the war against
Britain and the war between neighbors. Here, the focus is on the necessity of
this conflict from both the Patriot and the Loyalist points of view. The key issues
were the need for the British support and the actual need for separation. These
issues were fought not only on the battlefields but also between the elites of
each major society. The roles of women, the treatment of the natives, and the
continued use of slavery were all major issues during this time and led to key
debates in the desire for a free American nation.
Chapter 8 focuses on the establishment of the American nation after the war
with Britain. This chapter discusses the early leadership, debates, and the
establishment of the first true political party issues that existed as this new nation
– which was divided along ethnic, gender, and economic issues – struggled to
create a successful nation without the structure of the mighty empires that had
dominated the political and social landscape for so long before.
This unit looks past just the battles and acts of opposition against the British; it
takes a closer look into the many socio-economic issues that plagued this early
society.

Background and Context
As a master's-level health care practitioner, you may be expected to implement plans to ensure that initiatives designed to take advantage of economic opportunities for the organization are rolled out successfully and can be sustained over multiple years. Additionally, it is important to be able to envision how an initiative could be implemented in different contexts and for different purposes to ensure the investment remains a viable and positive asset to your organization or care setting.
As a master's-level practitioner, you will often be challenged to influence the health care environment in a variety of ways. This influence can occur on a micro-level (implementing change on your unit, institution, community, or local organizations) or at a macro level (implementing change via state or federal regulations and policy). One way you can influence the health care environment is by lobbying an elected official at the local, state, or national level to adopt policies or legislation that would support positive economic and health outcomes for patients, practitioners, and organizations within the health care environment.

The purpose of this letter is to advocate for action with regards to your chosen health care environment issue. Remember, when writing the letter, you must use your personal address and telephone number unless you are exclusively representing a group or your organization.

Introduction
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or ACA) was signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010. The ACA attempts to increase access to care, reduce cost, and improve quality. Nearly 50 different reform initiatives were implemented between 2010 and 2017. Although primary care is a major focus of the act, these additional initiatives are focused on 10 different areas, including public health, prevention of disease, community health, and increasing revenue provisions to pay for the reform (Niles, 2021). The law has been controversial due to the mandate that all Americans must purchase health insurance.
The U.S. government plays a significant role in the operation of the country's health care system. Quality, access, funding, education, and preventative services are all influenced by the U.S. government (Niles, 2021), and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has further increased the role and involvement of the government in health care. All health care administrators must be knowledgeable on the role of the government.
Numerous governmental organizations exist, such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Office of the Surgeon General to name a few. Each organization exists for a specific purpose and has a specific mission. Your role as an administrator will be to understand the scope of these agencies and to help your organization meet or exceed the governmental mandates imposed by each.

Opinion and editorials in all newspapers should be avoided because they can be based on opinion rather than empiricism (objective research).

Written Lecture
Unit IV is composed of Chapters 7 and 8. This unit focuses on America during
the time of the American Revolution and the establishment of the early American
republic. The details of the American Revolution are reviewed, and the key
issues with the creation of a truly “free” republic are discussed.
Chapter 7 looks at the two fronts of the American Revolution: the war against
Britain and the war between neighbors. Here, the focus is on the necessity of
this conflict from both the Patriot and the Loyalist points of view. The key issues
were the need for the British support and the actual need for separation. These
issues were fought not only on the battlefields but also between the elites of
each major society. The roles of women, the treatment of the natives, and the
continued use of slavery were all major issues during this time and led to key
debates in the desire for a free American nation.
Chapter 8 focuses on the establishment of the American nation after the war
with Britain. This chapter discusses the early leadership, debates, and the
establishment of the first true political party issues that existed as this new nation
– which was divided along ethnic, gender, and economic issues – struggled to
create a successful nation without the structure of the mighty empires that had
dominated the political and social landscape for so long before.
This unit looks past just the battles and acts of opposition against the British; it
takes a closer look into the many socio-economic issues that plagued this early
society.

Additionally, it is important to be able to envision how an initiative could be implemented in different contexts and for different purposes to ensure the investment remains a viable and positive asset to your organization or care setting.
As a master's-level practitioner, you will often be challenged to influence the health care environment in a variety of ways. This influence can occur on a micro-level (implementing change on your unit, institution, community, or local organizations) or at a macro level (implementing change via state or federal regulations and policy). The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or ACA) was signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010. The ACA attempts to increase access to care, reduce cost, and improve quality. Nearly 50 different reform initiatives were implemented between 2010 and 2017. Although primary care is a major focus of the act, these additional initiatives are focused on 10 different areas, including public health, prevention of disease, community health, and increasing revenue provisions to pay for the reform (Niles, 2021). The law has been controversial due to the mandate that all Americans must purchase health insurance.
The U.S. government plays a significant role in the operation of the country's health care system. Quality, access, funding, education, and preventative services are all influenced by the U.S. government (Niles, 2021), and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has further increased the role and involvement of the government in health care. All health care administrators must be knowledgeable on the role of the government.
Numerous governmental organizations exist, such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Office of the Surgeon General to name a few. Each organization exists for a specific purpose and has a specific mission. Your role as an administrator will be to understand the scope of these agencies and to help your organization meet or exceed the governmental mandates imposed by each.

Atomic models are useful because they allow us to picture what is inside of an atom, something we will never be able to actually see. We're going to talk about two models, the Bohr model and the Quantum model. While we know that the Quantum model is the correct way to represent atoms, the Bohr model is still useful for a very basic understanding. Think of it as a stick figure sketch of an atom. The parts are all there, its just not quite filled in all of the way.
Bohr Model
The Bohr model of the atom was developed in 1914 by Niels Bohr. In this model, electrons move around the nucleus in fixed, concentric circles. Picture the planets orbiting the Sun. These circles are called energy levels and electrons must have a specific amount of energy to be in each level. The energy levels closest to the nucleus require the least amount of energy. In order for an electron to move further from the nucleus (or move up an energy level) they must gain energy. If they lose energy they fall down to an energy level closer to the nucleus.
Drawing the Bohr model for an atom gives you valuable information about the atom's valence electrons. The

l--are the ones that determine the chemical properties of an atom. In order to draw a Bohr model you must first use the periodic table to tell you the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in an atom. For Bohr models we usually draw what the "average" atom for that element looks like and just round the average atomic mass to a whole number and use that for the mass number.
Steps for Drawing a Bohr Model:
1. Count the number of protons, electrons, and neutrons for that atom.
2. Draw the nucleus. Indicate the correct number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus.
3. Draw energy levels around the nucleus, starting with the energy level closest to the nucleus. Fill up each energy level before moving on to the next.
Each energy level in a Bohr model can only hold a specific number of electrons, as shown in the table below.

You try drawing one for Magnesium (Mg) and for Boron (B). Count the number of electrons on the outermost energy level to find the number of valence electrons. Check your answers by looking at the handout.
Quantum Model
In 1925 the Quantum model of the atom was developed after it was determined that electrons can behave like a wave and a particle at the same time. In addition, you can't know the precise location of an electron. Instead of traveling in orderly circles around the nucleus, we describe the electrons as existing in a three-dimensional
electron cloud
--a shape surrounding the nucleus. You will learn more about the Quantum model in chemistry.

For ease of organization, include each problem on a separate page and limit the draft to double-spaced text. · For each issue, provide information about the populations (size and/or situation) that will be impacted. In your description, make sure you do the following: · Explain the difference between raw data and information derived from it, and give examples of substantive information pertinent to this list of emerging public health issues. · Identify the ethnographic (sociocultural) features and the epidemiological (disease risk) features of the population that may cause each issue to differentially affect this population. · For each issue, present probable consequences to the population if intervention is not enacted. · Create a statement of hypothesized causes of each problem so that the audience can judge the level and type of intervention the public expects. Make sure you discuss both the following factors: · Ethnographic factors: Explain what individuals, people, governments, business, or other agencies are doing that may contribute to the problem. · Epidemiological factors: Explain changes in environments or agents that may be contributing to the emergence of the problem. · Provide evidence of systemic or programmatic problems.
