Still On The Soul of Man
Adam’s Psyche The Fall
Before his fall Adam could quite naturally exercise this ability (‘Hidden power’) with ease, since it was
embodied in his soul. But after his fall, this power of his was interned by his body. Formerly the body
was a help to Adam's powerful soul; now the soul had fallen, and his power was circumscribed by the
shell to the flesh. Many do not understand this strategy, being deceived into accepting it as of God.

It strengthened the WILL so that it now has the: ‘ability’ to ‘decide’

Inordinate Activity of The Soul
Problems of the heart
Although the common believe is that Jesus was referring to laying down His physical life, His "bios,"
(As represented in Greek) at the cross in dying for our sins (which He subsequently did in John 19:30) –
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave
up the ghost.”); WHAT HE WAS SPECIFICALLY REFERRING TO (WHAT HE LAID DOWN)
WAS HIS PSUCHE.
In our illustration here we will be using psuche when referring to the lower form of life that is developed
through the works of the flesh.
While zoe is life that comes from above, life of God; the word psuche in the original New Testament
Greek is used to express the lower form of life that is developed through the flesh sarx . An example of
this is when Jesus said, "My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life {"psuche"}." (John 10:17)
If we do not look at the Greek in this case, WE CANNOT FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT JESUS CHOSE
TO LAY DOWN IN ORDER TO PLEASE HIS FATHER.
What life did Jesus lay down here TO PLEASE HIS FATHER? Was it His physical life He laid down
at the cross at Calvary?

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the
work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father,
glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I
had with thee before the world was. I HAVE
MANIFESTED THY NAME UNTO THE MEN WHICH

We Are Here;
As we continue our look at sanctification (The Law of Sin and Death & The Battle For The Soul of
Man) taking into consideration that the main oppressor of man is sin in the heart, for hearts tainted
by sin will not only oppress their owners, but will inevitably lead to oppressive systems as well. It will
be apt to take a quick look at one other major way oppression may be facilitated; as in how
relationships between the ‘leaders’ and the ‘led’ are defined in the quest for sanctification and some
factors around it – this being passivity and the level of de-humanization it can lead to. We will in this
presentation look at the need for the believer to take responsibility for what our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ has left in us through His finished work at Calvary
,
Now these people were more noble and open-minded than those in Thessalonica, so they received the
message [of salvation through faith in the Christ] with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures
daily to see if these things were so. (Acts 17:11 Amp.)
Up to these point through this series, we have been addressing the inner spiritual oppression of sin,
which is the fount of all other types of oppression a believer encounters. Now we will briefly have a
look at passivity, a vehicle through which evil forces takeover a believer’s urge to act instead of
him/her and examine actions that necessitate the credulity that in most cases trigger it. We will be
looking at the horizontal aspect of the believer that being the one between the five-fold ministries
and the believer at the receiving end of their work
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates (works against) his [Christian] brother he is a liar; for the
one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

God (between you and Him); with the aim of not going back to them.
Believe in Jesus Christ: To be the son of God; died and rose up again, and
that His finished work on the Cross is more than enough to set you free.

Emotions can be misleading – The fact that man is still in the mortal state there could still be those moments of doubts
about salvation in times of sorrow, temptation, disappointment etc that may interrupt the moments of great joy, enthusiasm and
spiritual awareness and uplifting we feel; then it is the time to remember:
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. “ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

functions of a liberated conscience, intuition and communion with God is demonstrated; even if and when
these are the “substance of things we hope for; and evidence of things we cannot see”

liberated conscience, intuition and communion with God is demonstrated by the assurance (the confirmation,

the conviction of the reality (perceiving as real what is not revealed to the senses) of this fact being made
real to us by our seeing ourselves hidden in Christ Jesus who became for us wisdom from God.

The main cause of a believer’s susceptibility to the power of darkness APART FROM SIN, is through the caving in or, a
cessation of the active exercise of the (regenerated spirit backed) will in control over, intellect, emotions and body. It is,
practically, a counterfeit of "SURRENDER TO GOD." The believer who "surrenders" his "members“ or faculties ‘to God’,

God creating man is for man to be transformed according to His image. God wanted Adam to be like
Him. The devil said, "You shall be as God.". BUT GOD'S ORIGINAL INTENTION WAS THAT ADAM
SHOULD BE TRANSFORMED TO BECOME LIKE HIM
BEFORE THE FALL; ADAM ALREADY HAD THE

“Man’s action should not be governed by the knowledge of good and evil; IT SHOULD BE MOTIVATED BY A
SENSE OF OBEDIENCE.
The principle of good and evil is to live according to what is right or what is wrong. Before Adam and eve ate
the forbidden fruit their right and wrong where in God’s hand. If they did not live before God they knew
nothing at all, for their right and wrong actually where in God. By taking the fruit of tree of the knowledge
good and evil, they found a source of right and wrong in other than God Himself. CONSEQUENTLY,
AFTER THE FALL MEN NEED NOT FIND IN GOD THE SENSE OF RIGHT OR WRONG. THEY
HAVE IT IN THEMSELVES. THIS IS THE RESULT OF THE FALL.
THE WORK OF REDEMPTION IS TO BRING US BACK TO THE PLACE WHERE WE WILL NOW
FIND OUR RIGHT AND WRONG IN GOD.”
The Humbled and Exalted Christ
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

NOT MEAN THERE IS NO LONGER SUCH POWER; it only denotes that though this
ability is still in man, it is nonetheless "frozen" or restrained
That power ‘SOUL FORCE’ most certainly still resided in Adam (and
man) but was PUT OUT OF ACTION AND FORBIDDEN (BY GOD) TO
BE USED IN OUR MORTAL STATE.
What occurred in Adam's Fall was that the 'soul' (i.e., the self), had to decide whether it would yield itself
to the spirit, by it to be linked with God and His will, or to the body and the begging for the visible. In the
Fall, the soul refused the rule of the spirit, and became the slave of the body. Thus, because the soul is
under the power of the flesh, man is spoken of as having `become flesh' and all the attributes of the soul.

Then Sealed Upon Our Hearts By The Holy Spirit
Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on
the earth [which have only temporal value].
(Colossians 3:2)
The use of " soul-force " means THE DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF
ALL THE " ATTRIBUTES OF THE SOUL " WHILST IN ITS FALLEN
CONDITION, and THEREFORE APART FROM GOD, EVEN THOUGH
IT MIGHT APPEAR TO BE IN THE SERVICE OF GOD. Truly
regenerated believers must face the fact that since " soulpower "
our " soul-force " has its source in the soul-or self-and not in the
spirit, which in the Christian is the place of the Divine Indwelling-

After the fall man becomes flesh. The flesh envelops the whole being and overpowers him. Man was
originally a living soul; now, having fallen, he becomes flesh. His soul had been meant to submit to
the spirit's control; now it is subject to the dominion of the flesh.
God looked on the earth and saw
how debased and degenerate it
was, for all humanity had
corrupted their way on the earth

At this stage where a believer now have a newness of life and victory over sin as manifested in the “works of
the flesh” some crucial question need to be asked:
What about the “soul” the man himself in his personality and intellectual or emotional activities?

What life did Jesus lay down here TO PLEASE HIS FATHER? Was it His physical life He laid down
at the cross at Calvary? To see what life it really was, we look at the definitions of some forms of life.
ZOE
Life of the absolute fullness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God, and through him both to the
hypostatic "logos" and to Christ in whom the "logos" put on human nature.
PSUCHE
Breath; the breath of life; the vital force which animates the body and shows itself in breathing of animals, of men, life;
that in which there is life; a living being, a living soul; the soul; the seat of the feelings, desires, affections, aversions
(our heart, soul etc.);
PNEUMA
The third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son. Sometimes referred
to in a way which emphasises his personality and character (The Holy Spirit): Sometimes referred to in a way which
emphasises his work and power (the Spirit of Truth) - Never referred to as a depersonalised force.

The flesh, denotes mere human nature, the earthly nature of man apart from divine influence, and
therefore prone to sin and opposed to God
