This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a new combination technique using a neutral linked Vienna rectifier and Z-source inverter to improve the performance of adjustable speed drives (ASDs) under voltage sag conditions. The technique aims to reduce the effects of voltage sags by providing more stable DC link voltage. Simulation results show that the proposed combination is able to maintain the DC link voltage between 150V to 450V during a sag, preventing large reductions in motor speed, and performs better than a system using only a diode rectifier and Z-source inverter.
