FME has often been demonstrated to accomplish a number of complex tasks on isolated Server and Desktop applications. However, is it easy to translate our experiences within our more comfortable GIS/Data Management environments, and work with FME in a multi-tiered, multi environment Agile software pipeline. Can FME be developed, tested, performance tested, version controlled and released iteration after iteration? Can we automate the deployment of the software? Can we automate the deployment of "code" (which in our case are workbenches)? Our presentation will demonstrate how we implemented FME as a successful contributor to a government digital exemplar within the UK. It is now live, operating 24/7 in secure hosted environments integrating with a multitude of different applications and databases. It has been configured to complete easy deployments with scripting, continuous integration tools and automation. We have made our ventures into implementing git-flow on our workbenches to allow agile team collaboration and code review whilst maintaining robust and resilient software.

FME and git do not work so well together at the moment - but a git workflow is an attractive option when creating FME-based products. Indeed, in some IT companies using git during development is part of the company policy. It is not only using git and the attractive git workflow; Gitlab (and, of course, GitHub) is also a very attractive tool for developers: Gitlab is a server-based solution which provides an ecosystem to support the development process, and it can facilitate tracking issues, and bugs, managing versions, permissions and can even help with auto-building and deploying software.
This presentation will cover the challenges and benefits involved when applying a git-based workflow to FME development and discuss how Gitlab can be used to help run a pipeline to auto-deploy an FME-based project.
Introduction to Fleet Commander
Fleet Commander is a system for easily managing and deploying user profiles across a large network of workstations. It aims to simplify configuring software and settings for each user profile and then transparently deploying the appropriate profiles to users' machines. It has three main components - the Fleet Commander Admin for managing profiles, the Logger for recording configuration changes, and the Client that downloads and applies profiles to users' machines at login. The presentation demonstrated Fleet Commander and discussed future plans like FreeIPA integration and UI enhancements.

FME Server 2017 introduced several new "charms" to enhance security, deployment, and job control capabilities for enterprise users. The security charms include support for Active Directory, user sharing and access control, and connection-based integration with third-party applications and databases. The deployment charm allows portable "projects" to easily move server solutions between machines. A new job termination charm ensures FME engines do not get stuck on long-running jobs by defining a maximum elapsed time before cancelling jobs.
FME 2021.2: Conquer New Data Challenges with FME Cloud and FME Mobile
FME 2021.2 introduces new capabilities for FME Cloud and FME Mobile to help users conquer new data challenges. FME Cloud provides an easy way to deploy FME Server in the cloud within 10 minutes with automated backups and security handled. The new FME Cloud interface makes instance management simpler. FME Mobile updates include improved user experiences, attribute display in FME AR, and external GPS support for high accuracy location data collection.
