John Vining was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma but raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is currently a member of the University of South Dakota golf team and is involved in several Christian organizations on campus including Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campus Crusade for Christ. John went on a mission trip to Ethiopia in 2010 that changed his outlook and goals - he now wants to work with non-profits helping HIV/AIDS orphans. His professional goals are to become a physical education teacher and golf or basketball coach in Sioux Falls while continuing involvement with Christian athletics organizations.
2. Personal
I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but raised in Sioux
Falls, SD. I am the second youngest of 6, with 2 sisters
and 3 brothers. My passion for sports and my faith has
shaped me into who I am today. Born into a family of
golfers I had no choice but to pick up a club at an early
age. Basketball was also a big passion of mine
throughout my high school years. I recently went on a
mission trip to Ethiopia where we spent time with many
HIV/AIDS orphans in a very impoverished area, this trip
changed everything about my personal and what I want
to do in life. It opened a new world to me and altered
my goals in the best way.

7. In 2020?
In ten years I would like to be going into
my 6th
or 7th
year of teaching at a Sioux Falls
school. A head coaching job on the boys golf
team as well as working with the boys basketball
programs. Along with having a family by then, I
would like to have helped the non-profit
organization of Look Development with their
orphanages in Ethiopia as much as I can.
