Closure Overview
Closure isnormally used to connect optical cables in the long-
distance transmission network, closure also routes and branches
optical fibers.
Fiber to the home (FTTH) is a type of point to multiple points
(P2MP) network with many branching points, so closures are
widely used to implement cable distribution, optical fiber splitting,
and flat drop cable output.

Network Location ofClosure
The user access point is also a level-two splitting point. The closure should have the function of
splitting, distribution, and outputting the drop cables.
Branching point in a community: Optical cables are distributed to each building or area.
Therefore, branching holes in the closure must be sufficient.

FDT Overview
Overview
The fiberdistribution terminal (FDT) is a device for connecting feeder cables and distribution cables,
to protect optical fiber splicing points, distribute and schedule optical fiber routings. FDT are often
outdoor type.
FDT is called fiber distribution hub (FDH) in North America, street cabinet in Europe, and optical
distribution cabinet (ODC) in Middle East.

Effectively manage unused optical fibers, protect connectors of
unused optical fibers, and reduce accidental damage rates of optical fibers
Can be installed with the
sunshade to prevent operators
from sunlight.
Self-lock structure, prevent
optical fibers from being
damaged by pull out

facilitates splicing.
The top of the FDT
uses gradient design
and is waterproof.
The lock hole is hidden
under the protection cover
and the door can only be
opened by using dedicated
tools.

FAT Overview
Overview
Fiber accessterminal (FAT) is normally located at the user access point to connect distribution
cables and drop cables. In FTTx network, FAT work with the optical splitter to split optical fibers.
FAT is called fiber distribution hub (FDH) in North America, floor box in Europe, floor distributor (FD)
in the Asia Pacific zone, and optical distribution box (ODP) in Middle East.

ATB Overview
The accessterminal box (ATB). Its major functions are terminated drop cables and providing optical ports.
ATB is the home equipment of FTTH, despite having the functions of the optical fiber panel, ATB also
should be beautiful,

The Biggest Challengesin building cabling
Home wiring takes half of ODN investment. (50%×56%
of FTTH)
Difficult to get the permission to enter the home.
Several times to finish the indoor engineering. (6 hours
needed in Malaysia Maxis).
Dirt and long interruption in user’s house for splicing.(2
hours in Telefonica)
Low efficiency in fiber splicing and equipment
installation on site. (STC: 10 persons/day for one
FDT(576 core) )
Hard to do cabling inside buildings. (Old buildings,
congested ducts) .(TdE)
Low efficiency in service provisioning.(TdE: Need
10 days/per user)
Slow Deployment
Slow Deployment Home Wiring is Difficult
