This document analyzes three case studies of private and for-profit ICT kiosk models in rural India: ITC e-Choupal, n-Logue, and Drishtee. It discusses how these models aimed to bridge the digital divide and drive socioeconomic development in rural areas. While ITC e-Choupal and Drishtee are still operational, n-Logue is no longer in operation. The case studies examine the business models, achievements, and critical issues around sustainability, services, infrastructure/connectivity, awareness, and training. Overall, the document finds that no private ICT model can survive without effectively addressing factors of the digital divide like awareness, availability, accessibility, and affordability.
