Ibn Battuta was a famous Muslim traveler and explorer from Morocco who made extensive journeys throughout North Africa, the Middle East and Asia between 1325-1354. Some of the places he visited included Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, India, China and the Maldive Islands. His travels totaled approximately 120,701 km. Upon his return to Morocco in 1354 after 24 years of travel, he dictated his experiences and adventures to a writer who compiled them into a travel book.
