Ibing Penca is a variant of Pencak Silat from West Java, Indonesia that focuses on the artistic aspects of the martial art. It is known as a "dance" that incorporates movements from Pencak Silat and is always accompanied by traditional Sundanese music.

Ibing Penca is a variant of Pencak Silat (a traditional martial art in Indonesia) which
focuses on the artistic senses of Pencak Silat’s actions. Ibing literally means “dance”
and Penca means the part of Pencak Silat. While Pencak Silat is widely known in
Malay’s culture, Ibing Penca is very special in West Java area because its performance
is always accompanied by traditional Sundanese trumpet and percussion instruments.

2. Introduction to Pencak Silat
Pencak Silat can be translated as "to fight artfully" based on two
different meanings. (1) "Pencak" is training method for self defense:
it consist of wide range controlled body movement directed to that
purpose. (2) "Silat" is the application of the training method - the
actual fight. There can be no silat without pencak, on the other hand
pencak without silat skills is purposeless.

3. Pencak Silat in West Java
Each region in Indonesia has its own unique styles of Pencak Silat. In West Java,
particularly, Pencak Silat styles should be in harmony with nature. The techniques
are adapted with the West Java geographical condition which has a lot of terraces,
lakes, and mountanous areas. Ibing Penca is a representation of these techniques in
the form of an artistic dance.
