The International Baccalaureate (IB) program focuses on developing well-rounded students by addressing their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical well-being through a holistic education. The goal is to create active and caring community members at the local, national, and global levels by emphasizing the processes and outcomes described in the IB Learner Profile. The Learner Profile outlines ten attributes that go beyond intellectual development to foster attitudes that help students and their entire community develop respect for themselves, others, and the world.

1. The learner is the center of IB education. As it
is holistic in nature, this education concerns
itself with students’ cognitive, social,
emotional and physical well-being. With a goal
of developing students who are active and
caring members of local, national and global
communities, IB education focuses on the
processes and outcomes of international
learning described in the IB Learner Profile.
It is said that the Learner Profile is the IB
mission statement in action. These ten attributes
transcend a concern for intellectual and
academic development and include attitudes
that help all in the learner’s community to
develop in their respect for themselves, others,
and the world around them. The Learner Profile
is the IB statement of the values that encourage
the development of international mindedness.
