I attended Aberdeen College from January 1993 until April 1994, where I passed 9
modules and 2 Higher National units of an Electrical Engineering course.

companies implement new lifting procedures and move all
their testing towards British standards as required by BP.

Based in a container yard in Aberdeen, testing various
types of offshore units to BS and DNV standards.

Operator
Involved working on the quayside in various berths loading
and unloading supply boats and vehicles, working at short
notice, involving long shifts including evenings and
weekends.
March 2001 – May 2001 Boat Repair
I spent 3 months in Inverkip refurbishing a 1934 wooden
small pleasure craft that was used in the D-Day landings.

Duties as below. I was moved back from Peterhead to help
set up and work in the new recycling facility. I was also in
charge of the testing and inspection of their offshore units.

Processing specialist waste such as drill-cutting recycling,
also responsible for the collection and recycling of Mobil
NS’s waste, along with general yard duties, such as forklift
driving.

Responsible for the fabrication and testing of new
equipment.
Jan. 1996 – Oct. 1998 JJ Welding Services: Quality Controller
Responsible for ensuring all quality-control procedures
were in place, including documentation. Also booking in of
materials; calibration of equipment; working in the rigging
shop making wire rope slings. I passed an MPI exam to
become a test engineer, trained in DNV test procedures
(2.7.1 and drop test) and for a period, was responsible for
the testing of all BOC gas racks. In this time, I was
subcontracted out to various firms, including BJ Services,
RB Farquhar and JJ Test Division.
May 1995 – Jan. 1996 Time off due to family bereavement.
June 1994 – May 1995 S&D Fabricators: Quality Controller
Responsible for the calibration and documentation of
welding rods. One specialist job I undertook was the
3. recording of all the run in butt welds on spools, measuring
length, current, time and heat inputs.
I also held various part-time jobs whilst at college, such as cashier at McDonald’s.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have held a full UK Driving Licence since September 1993.
I have computer experience, and have used packages such as Word, Excel, email and the
internet. I also have a good working knowledge of faxes, photocopiers and general office
equipment.
HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
I enjoy car maintenance, driving, films and travelling.
