Basic configuration of an archive solution. A scanner, a scan and capture application and an EASY archive.
Starting points: Use and reuse (use best practice, reuse functionality) KISS (Keep It Stupid Simple, develop what is needed) Low cost (provide a low cost starting platform WSS) Low change impact (fast implementation, leaf customer processes alone) Information on the right place (add value by combining information, flexible integration on portal level) iSHARE is a lightweight and simple solution to put your archive at work from within SharePoint. iSHARE consist from two main components. One is the connection library – directly using the XML server for fast connectivity and providing the functionality used by the frontend components. Two the frontend components – webparts placed in a SharePoint site. The connection is easy to configure.
To avoid legacy development on the backend, integration is deployed on the portal level. Changes on the backend systems will have less impact on the implementation.
iSHARE installation at TLN. Leading information from the CRM displayed on the left and connected to the iSHARE webpart at the right. TLN uses the EASY EEi archive to archive all documents. The documents are a starting point or an endpoint of a business process. The origin of the business process information used to categorize the documents at creation time is derived from the CRM. This garantees the possibility to use this loosly coupled architecture on the SharePoint frontend, without impacting the backend applications with legacy connection software. Both integrations with SharePoint were developed independently and connected through standard webpart connectivity technology.
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 is an addition to the windows server 200x platform. It uses the same licence model as The windows server host. So no additional licensing is needed for the SharePoint services. Build on ASP.NET guarantees portability to other ASP.NET based platforms besides of SharePoint. No additional configuration for the archive is needed.
