Jute farmers of Bangladesh
I am Amir Hossain Rangan working in this jute industry last 18 years. My father were a worker of Jute mill
& my mother were a professional Taylor. My mother always help to learn about sewing to the poor
women of our country. My lived my childhood in Jute Mill Colony & Saw how the life of jute mill
workers. So I took inspiration from my childhood struggle & set my goal to work in this industry & work
for the People of Bangladesh. Now my dreams are a part of global issues. Our Ecofriendly Jute products
specially Jute dresses can be easily save our world from global warming.
In my research time , conversation with Jute workers
So this the High time to think about our golden fiver Jute not only for Bangladesh but also for all over
the world. The next time I started researching on jute fabric, I found out that jute is not just a sack, it is
also used to make clothes, bed sheets, window curtains, furniture, polythene with cellulose, car body,
plane body, boat body, building body. Household everyday items including heatproof and bulletproof, all
kinds of fashionable products from head to toe, etc. can be made with jute.
Also, a week ago, antibiotics were discovered in Bangladesh from jute bacteria. After researching so
much can be made with this jute, I was really surprised to learn that everything is eco – friendly and bio-
degradable.
Moreover, the amount of oxygen produced by planting other common trees in 72000 square feet of
land, the amount of oxygen produced by planting jute trees in 14400 square feet of land is really
unimaginable and plays an effective role in solving the problem of global warming.
So I have been doing research on jute garments for about 18 years. I have been trying to encourage
about 15 creative university students by wearing garments made of jute sacks for about six years.
In 2007,I exhibited the first jute garment in Bangladesh . It was held at the Zainul Gallery of the Faculty
of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. Which is called Oxford, the largest school in East Bangladesh.
The first exhibition was held at the University of Dhaka in 2007
The second exhibition was held at the same place in 2008.
Then, as usual, the second largest Jahangirnagar University of Bangladesh, my jute garment exhibition
was held in 2008.
In 2016, we organized another fashion show and exhibition at Jahangirnagar University.
Then we organized a fashion show at Bangladesh Textile University in 2018. University students became
interested in making jute cloth. As jute is not only used to make sacks, jute is also used to make clothes.
Students from Different Background who are very much creative are also working with me to full fill this
vision. At that time, I was able to encouraged the students of Bangladesh Textile University about the
importance of jute as a solution to global warming. I organized a fashion show of jute garments by
modeling a fashion show with them. Then the Hon’ble Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was
present at the ceremony. And in that program, I was honored by Bangladesh Textile University as a
“”Pioneer” of jute garments.
In 2016, Bangladesh University of Textile “Fashion show”
