2. Infinite in number and variety are the states of existence that beings are born into. I have been born as a human being. I shall strive to live a worthy life.
3. Countless are those who cannot speak or hear what is spoken to them. I have been born with the powers of speech and hearing. I shall strive to practise Right Speech. I shall strive to listen with more mindfulness.
4. Countless are those who cannot see to read or lack the power to reason and ponder. I have been born able to see and to use my mind. I shall strive to use my seeing and mental faculties in wise ways.
5. Many are those who dwell in lands of strife and conflict and who are deprived of security and safety. I shall strive to bring some happiness and peace to those who come to me in need.
6. Incalculable are those forced to toil without end and who are driven by hunger and want. I have wealth to sustain the body and time to give it rest. I shall strive to help those in need.
7. Numerous are those whose bodies and minds are in bonds. I enjoy great freedom. I shall strive to free my mind from mental defilements.
8. Many are those unable to go where they wish and unable to think what they like. I have so much physical and mental freedom. I shall strive not to abuse this freedom.
9. Countless are those who live in impoverished lands unable to have decent meals. I live in a land of comfort and plenty. I shall strive not to waste any food.
10. Numerous are those who lack proper clothing due to poverty or natural disasters. I am so fortunate to have more than enough to wear. I shall strive to donate to those in need.
11. Countless are those who are in great pain and suffering due to sicknesses or external calamities. I am in a relatively more comfortable state. I shall strive to be more patient and bear with the little suffering I sometimes face.
12. Numerous are those who fall victims of crime, abuse and horrible torture. I have been more fortunate than so many people. I shall strive to criticize, complain and condemn less.
13. Without number are those who abide in regions where The Light of Dhamma shines not, or where its Message is not heard above the rackets of false doctrines. I have heard and understood the good Dhamma. I shall strive to share the Dhamma with all.
14. Truly precious is this human life and great are the Blessings I enjoy.
15. I here and now before The Buddha contemplate my own good fortune and resolve to use this rare opportunity to work for my good and the good of others.
16. With strong confidence, determination and energy I shall strive to overcome all obstacles both great and small. I shall strive on diligently to attain the ultimate happiness and freedom of the mind. With Metta, Bro. Oh Teik Bin
