Hygienic & Eco-friendly toilet - requires no water no electricity - conceptualised
1. Hygienic & Eco-friendly Toilet... Requires No Water
No Electricity... Conceptualised...
Need of the day is a hygienic & Eco-friendly Toilet which requires no
water & no electricity... The mechanism of self cleaning toilets
consumes electricity... Water is again needed for cleaning or
drainage... Many options have been created and applied by developers
across the globe including dry latrine, but not the one like this...
I have conceptualised a design which is mechanically operated and
doesn't need water for cleaning... Unlike dry type toilets it also doesn't
require handling of ash/saw dust or any power for reuse...
Design is simple and adoptable for all sort of environment and
societies... Particularly in common toilets where nobody is bothering
to practice cleanliness... Here is basic scheme explained by hand
sketches...
2. This toilet has following main parts...
1. Envelope Magazine
2. Lid
3. Commode Base
4. Digestion Tank or chute for storage
5. Envelope
6. Mechanism
3. Activity needed is to operate a lever in mechanism for lifting the lid,
all features run by single lid lifting and dropping...
Envelope (bag) is made out of Digestible Plastic (Bio-degradable)
with a top Elastic and tie Rope... Elastic make it possible to hold it on
lid as well as on Magazine...
A bunch (according to frequency of use on given time) of these
envelopes have to be loaded on Magazine for every-time use...
4. Magazine has low compression spring on it with fixed and movable
rings for unloading of envelope, when actuated, on Lid... Dropping
from Magazine is prevented by small plungers...
After envelope is secured on Lid, person using the toilet will lower
the lid on commode and use it... Loop of tie rope will be engaged with
Hook inside the commode... Lid will have internal mechanism to
remove envelope over it...
5. Envelope is covering Lid and elastic is between lid and commode
securing envelope from dropping it in commode as well as making a
positive separation from lid to user skin... Every-time new envelope
on lid secure hygiene... A small mechanism is built in magazine...
6. After person finishes his/her job, they just have to lift the lid gently...
Self actuating cam mechanism will expand elastic and overturn it for
falling in commode... Simultaneously, hook inside commode will tie
rope for second security of no spilling over commode...
7. Here are the stages of use...
Stage-1: Toilet ready for using anybody...
Stage-2: Person gently put lid on commode... Rope engaged
with hook...
Stage-3: Person uses and finish the natural call...
Stage-4: Person gently lift the lid by lever... Elastic overturn,
rope tied... Envelope fallen in commode... Gone to digestion
tank or chute to temporary storage... No touching require...
Urine, stool and toilet paper inside the envelope...
8. Stage-5: Person gently press lid on magazine by using lever...
New envelope secured over lid...
Stage-6: Person leaves toilet... It is ready to use by next
person...
No water used... No electricity used....
Hygienic due to no contact... Eco-friendly due to bio-degradable
envelope...
9. Simple design may be used in remote, desert, extreme cold and stand-
alone locations... It can also be used for public, railways & roadways
toilets...
In case somebody want to use water for washing instead of toilet
paper, there will be no problem in operations. Envelope has the
strength and capacity to withstand...
There will be very little or no maintenance for this kind of mechanism
used... No special training or awareness needed for using it properly...
A single time guided use will be enough...
Hope that people will adopt this simple concept... Prototype not built
yet... Once completed, I will load video of it...
NGOs and Non-profit organisations are free to use this for their
work... "For Profit" organisation must take written permission from
me for using it commercially, royalty may apply...
