The Hanging Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Shanxi Province, China, built into a cliff above Jinlong Canyon near Mount Heng. The temple buildings are constructed along the cliff face using natural indentations and outcroppings, connected by corridors, bridges, and walkways. Built over 1400 years ago, the temple is unique for its cliffside location and the inclusion of Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian elements. It has survived over 1400 years due to rebuilding and maintenance during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
