Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, forcing many residents to evacuate to the Superdome for shelter while others stayed in their homes. Those who went to the Superdome received food and water from FEMA, but those who stayed home had no supplies as their houses flooded. After the storm, the city was left in ruins with debris everywhere as officials worked to repair levees and pump out floodwaters so the city could be rebuilt stronger than before.
