The Hoi An Ancient Town is located in Quang Nam province in central Vietnam. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its well-preserved complex of over 1,000 wooden buildings reflecting its history as a prosperous trading port from the 15th to 19th centuries. The town retains its original layout and architecture, representing the blending of foreign and indigenous influences. It is protected by cultural heritage laws and managed by UNESCO to preserve its unique cultural heritage as one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations.

1. Hoi An Ancient Town Report
Location
The Hoi An Ancient Town is located in Quang Nam province. It is a town that is
very popular in Da Nang, Hoi An. Quang Nam is in the middle of the S shape
(Vietnam).
Why?
It was listed on the UNESCO website because it has been one of the most popular
place in Vietnam. The pagodas are almost all from the 19th century. Everything
there are mostly made out of wood. Families cult houses to dedicate and worship
their ancestors. The Hoi An Ancient Town is also a trading port. This site is also
made up of a well­preserved complex with 1107 timber frame buildings, along with
brick or wooden walls. This also includes architectural monuments, commercials
and domestic cultural structures. There is also an open market, ferry quay,
religious buildings like the pagodas and family cult houses.
Important?
Hoi An Ancient Town is a Cultural site, mostly also made out of wood. It is also
been going on for a very long time. It has been a trading port since the 15th
century till the 19th century. What is so interesting about it is that Hoi An Ancient

exceptionally well­preserved example of the South East Asian. The buildings and
the street plans has reflected the influences on both foreign and indigenous. This
creates and produces a very unique heritage site.
Preservations and Threats
This site is being managed by UNESCO. It is under the Cultural Heritage Law of
2001 which improved this site in 2009. The entire town is also effectively under
protection by a number of laws and government decision such as: the Cultural
Heritage Law and the Tourism Law. The conservations, restorations, and
promotions will be protected and covered until 2025. Luckily, this site has not been
suffered from development. As the years pass by, the more tourists will come to
this place. This will damage some of the places, causing it to be vulnerable. To
also protect this place, we must buy tickets so they get the money to restore any
damaged places.
Why Be Protected?
This site should be protected because one, I am Vietnamese and that place is the
only place I know the most. It is where all my memories are and that is where I

3. always go to for vacation. Personally, I think that it is also a very special and
beautiful place to be at. There are a lot of places you can explore and have fun at.
Why on World’s Most Fascinating Places?
Hoi An Ancient Town has been going on for a very long time. It is a very old place,
yet still running perfectly fine and still being preserved. It has not suffered from
development and is the most popular destination for tourists in Vietnam. I think it
deserves to be on the World’s Most Fascinating Places because it is very unique
and it shows how the culture of Vietnam works. There are also a lot of places to
explore as well, along as games and fun live shows around some places.
