This document discusses an industrial relations conflict between a union (MUEU) and a management (MUL) in India. There were disputes over changes to incentive schemes from 1996-2000 and issues related to notices given to workers. The union demanded higher incentives than what the management offered and there were reported instances of human rights violations. The government did not successfully resolve the disputes. The management wanted to reduce labor costs while the union demanded reinstatement of suspended employees and withdrawal of notices. Recommendations included more participative decision making, profit sharing, better communication, following labor laws strictly, and improving pay.
