HP was founded in 1939 by engineers Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard with $538 in startup capital. They produced their first product, an audio oscillator, and their earliest customer was Walt Disney Studios. Over the decades, HP has pioneered many innovations including the first scientific hand-held calculator in 1972, the world's first desktop computer in 1968, and various printing technologies like the first desktop laser printer. Most recently, HP has focused on 3D printing, immersive computing, and reinventing printing technologies.
