How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving
As much as we would like to, we can't plan for everything. Long before we're even aware of them, these things happen and it's only within our control
to make the best of it. One way I've made the most out of a decision I couldn't control was when my parents moved us from Naperville, Illinois, a place
I grew up and lived in for 15 years of my life, to Bakersfield, California. The thought of change scared me because Naperville was the only place I had
ever known.
The first time the idea of moving was brought up was when I was in fifth grade. One day, my parents asked out of the blue how I would feel about
moving away. My immediate response was of course no, why would I want to move? I loved my school, my teachers, my house, and most
importantly my friends. I had everything I wanted. They didn't push much after that, they weren't too serious about it after all. My mom had received a
job offer in a different state but they both agreed that with how young my siblings and I were, now was not the right time for us to move.
I never expected the topic to be brought up again. I always thought I would graduate from the same high school both of my siblings did with my best
friends at my side. I was shocked when sophomore...show more content...
My family vacationed to Los Angeles when I was eleven years old. I remember the beach, the celebrities, the shops. It felt like I was in paradise. I
think part of me wanted to believe that's where I would be moving to, but that couldn't be further from the truth. June 29, 2014 is a date forever burned
into mind. After hugging the life out of all of my friends and kissing the walls of my childhood home, it was time to leave. The plane ride from
O'Hare Airport to LAX was the longest four hours of my life. I remember listening to the playlist Julia made for me before I left the entire flight. I
couldn't believe this was happening. My whole world was about to be flipped around and I had no

Example Of A Narrative Essay College
A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a message, explain an event that's happened, or
entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the writer
themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in
which the you can come up with a topic, it all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main events
that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to approach? What key events made what your topic is all
about?...show more content...
This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never
give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When
choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I
chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to
Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to write is one I feel very passionate about and the
single memory I can recall the most. Although breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever
broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief
and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May
have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth

There have been many people throughout my life that have helped me become the reader and the writer I am today. In the past few years, however,
my perspective on reading and writing has changed a lot. This is through my highschool teachers, mostly. They have given me a different look on how
I write about the things I read. How I analyze a story, and see the bigger picture within it. From being able to answer simple questions about stories, to
more complicated ones, my teachers have shown me how to do these things

Narrative Essay About Having A Dream
Everyone has a dream. Whether it's small or big...we all have one. We also give up on them. We get stuck in the idea that our ideas are too far–fetched
either because of other people's comments or because of our own self–doubt. We allow ourselves to forget about them and move on to things we
believe are better for us. To things that although don't make us happy, are what society tells us is the right way to live. It's hard to have adream and keep
it. The world we live in today is so cruel that a lot of times we don't even bother to dream anymore. We've gotten to the point where dreaming is just
that. A dream.
Yet, for my mom, that wasn't the case.
My mother was born on March 24, 1973, in a small village in Guatemala. She grew up there...show more content...
She sat me down and said well why not do both. I remember when she said that I was so happy. We began to think of how I could do both and
came up with the idea of a singing lawyer. It was probably the worst idea we've ever had. I don't even think it would have worked out well either, but
it was the fact that I could have done it and my mom would be completely okay with it and made it seem perfectly normal that helped me to never quit
on my dreams.
Her experience growing up wasn't at all how she made mine. Her mother and step father never encouraged or supported her. Growing up my mother
struggled a lot. She had to grow up a lot faster than most kids and had to deal with the real world way before she should have had to. She was never
pushed to do better or told that her dreams could come true.
Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to go out a lot so she was always home studying or in
her room. She was so restricted in her own home that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only
about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty.
Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel like nothing. She didn't even have protection from
her own mother, because her mom would never say anything about it. She just let it happen.

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Immigration
Standing in the middle of the airport's terminal gate, waiting to hear the voice of the anonymous lady in the microphone to announce about the time the
gate opens to enter the airplane. Although we have traveled before, this time seems different. As a family, we waited there for forty
–five minutes, and I
spent each minute of them saying my goodbyes to the place where I spent all my teenage years there. A place that I grew up in, made life friendships,
and finished my high school degree in its schools. During that time, I sat beside my mom and looked at my twin brothers playing with their toys in
front of me. How naive and innocent they looked made me feel relief for a while because at least they will not have to deal with our immigration.
Then, I turned to my mom to talk to her, but I saw tears on her face. I did not know what to do, the whole day I showed them that I am strong and can
handle the situation however my mother's tears break me. Also, I could not tell my father about it because he too seems worried and nervous that he
spent most of the time checking every single paper we need before traveling. Even though I tried to comfort my mom by telling her that...show more

new situation will affect my future. I only Knew the United States from my history lectures in school and movies, but I never thought about how
living there will be. I spent hours just comparing between the country that I left and the U.S. like the language, different college style, culture, and
even my friends. I could not think of a single thing as an advantage for me besides the feeling of secure that I missed from my

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading.
Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the
severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my
everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show

You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's
part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very
different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write
because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally.
To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have
to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing
assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar.
The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class
simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to
write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Narrative Essay About Obstacles
The four pink walls that I stared at everyday until I was at the age of nine trapped me from my dreams, passions, originality, and youth. Outside those
walls my life consisted of going to school smiling away the truth, then shortly after going home to take care of my baby sister or to see my mom with a
coffee cup in her hand that sometimes contain funny smelling juice in it, and having a constant battle with a belt or anything my mom could get her
hands on. Growing with my mother meant growing up in an abusive home, but that wasn't the obstacle I had to face. Bumps and bruises will go away,
but words will last an eternity whether that be in a physical place or spiritual realm, words will always hurt more than sticks and stones.

over the issue. To this day I'm not even sure that I tackled the obstacle at hand instead I feel as if I just ran away from it. At the age of ten I was
removed from my mother and lived with my father and stepmother instead. Every night that I spent in my new home I was still accompanied by
the dark shadows and words that lived in my head. I heard my mother speak to me with cold cruelty every time I closed my eyes. Fast Forward to
present time where I sometimes can't sleep at night because of the feeling of a bullet shattering my soul. Ironically speaking even when I'm

Narrative: a Memorable Event. Essay
Narrative: A memorable event.
I woke to my body jittering with anxiety. It was 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning, and it was the day that I had been awaiting for. I was almost ready
when my Dad shouted '' Ya betta get ya'self moving Kertesha, we're gonna be late!''.
I paused, and took one last look at myself in the mirror. My hair was scraped back, my polo necked fleece was suffocating and itchy, my black ribbed
jodhpurs were tight around my midriff, but there was one thing missing. It was one thing which all the girls on the internet, in the movies, and in all the
equestrian magazines had – A gilet. Mine was a pink Abercrombie & Fitch one, with ribbed salmon trims around the waistband and collar; it was

Although the smell of the manure was strong, over time I began to appreciate it, and so it became more of an aroma, than an odour. But this is
something my Dad never seemed to get used, to let alone appreciate. The entire stable had a rather odd smell; it was a mixture of hay, cut grass, dust,
manure, and oddly, a hint of leather. This was a smell which I soon became very fond of.
There were six of us in the group, we were all new to Dulwhich Riding School and filled with enthusiasm. After being handed our riding hats, we were
alphabetically permitted to choose a horse, and as always, I was last in the alphabet. I was left with a choice of two, one was a blue roan filly. She
was a young slate coloured horse who reminded me of Eeyore (from Winnie the Pooh), and was also a lot smaller than the other horses. Then I saw
the attractive sorrel coloured gelding, he stood glaring at me with his head poking out of the barn gate. His mane was dark and silky, and he had a
striking white birthmark on the bridge of his nose. I had an instant connection with him, and proclaimed his name as Cashmere.
As I lead Cashmere towards the indoor riding arena, my heart raced. The inconsistent sound hoofs trotting along the cobbled ground were intensifying.
As I stroked Cashmere's muzzle and gave him a mint polo (he's favourites), I began to mentally prepared myself to mount, and ride him.

A Narrative Essay About Moving To A New Country
Bags and bags of packages were traveling to the opposite side of the world during the summer of 2009, and it was time to get settled down again, in an
unfamiliar environment. It was strange when I took my first step into this new country––a place where I have never been to before.
Three weeks later, school in elementary was starting. It was awkward for me to go to school, due to the reason of me being shy and still not used to
the new environment, I did not know any English at that time, and wasn't able to communicate with anyone, I was only capable of communicating

The Importance Of Narrative Writing
Narrative Writing is a story that is told and the order in which it is told. Some stories have narrators and some without. The narrator is normally a
series of characters or one character who tell the story. Sometimes narrative writing can be classified as fiction writing which is a made up from start to
finish. When there is narrative writing that is based on true stores, then the narrative writing is non fiction. Most narrative writing in the law
enforcement sector is a "how to" format or a guideline on how a report should be written. It also explains the actual facts on how a crime occurred
during the investigation. According to the text Biggs (2016), There are five rules of narrative writing. The first rule of narrative writing is, the
report should always be written in first person. When the narrative explains first person, the narrative is stating that using "I or Me" in the reports
identify the author of the person who is writing the investigative report. If "I or Me" is not being used to write the investigative reports, the
investigation could be sought as made up or fake. The second rule of narrative writing is, the report should also be written in past tense along with
first person view. According to the text, If you write in the past tense, you will develop consistency and, as a result, create a report that is professional
and easy to read. With this type of consistency, the reports are easily believable to the reader and makes it easy to follow the

Once I came home, I found my mother waiting in the kitchen with snacks, smiles, and an intense attentiveness to my face. "How was your day?" she

about all the hard work the coaches put us through doing two a days and keeping us late after a hard practice, spending all of that time and hard
work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was

Narrative Essay On A Journey
Everybody is on or has been on a journey before. Being on a journey is very important because it gives you a goal or task that you want to
accomplish. When you go on a journey you find is yourself through the experiences and obstacles that life throws at you. Throughout a journey, you
are taught life lessons and have the capability of applying that new knowledge for the future for a better outcome. Sometimes, these life lessons
challenge you and you ultimately succeed at the end. For the past 5 months, I have been on a journey as I have been learning a new instrument that I've
always wanted to learn since I was a little kid. Being on this path has taught me many life lessons and how to stay focused on what really matters.
My interest in guitar started when my friend used to bring his guitar everyday and I would always want to play but didn't know how. I would always
ask him to teach me how to play but I didn't know any of the chords and notes, therefore, I just gave up on attempting to play this new instrument.
However, guitar is an elective that's offered here at Kennedy, so I decided to take the class. I noticed that my friend was getting better the more he
practiced, so I decided to join the class to learn the basics and get started on this new journey. At first, it was difficult to understand the notes
because I didn't have any musical background to help assist me for my own benefit. However, I began to focus more in class to learn the basics day by
day. Overtime, I learned that you can't learn guitar in one day and you need a lot of practice to get better. I also discovered how progress is important
to reach my end goal.
I stayed on this journey to learn guitar because playing guitar is a special skill that I want to learn. n my free time or when I'm bored, I could play
guitar while learning new and more songs to play. As a result, I will eventually and gradually get more advanced the more I learn. Another reason I
stayed on this journey is because I want to want to challenge myself to do something I thought I could never do. When I was little, I always thought
that I would never be able to play an instrument because it was too difficult to learn. Therefore, this is why I wanted to learn guitar in the

Narrative Essay On The Great Gatsby
Last night was all a blur. It was definitely one of the most memorable night of my life. Everyone was all done up in expensive and ornate clothing.
I felt so plain in my simple party dress. I silently drifted through the crowd choosing to observe the crowd rather than joining in on their festivities.
After all, the only way I was able to obtain an invitation was through work. You see, my boss wanted me to write an article on Gatsby's party. I was
refused at first but my boss knows some things about me that I do not under any circumstances want exposed. Okay, so back to the party. I
decided to that the faster I talked to Gatsby the better so I went to go find him. I thought the best place to start was out in the garden where I
thought he would be conversing with his guests. I walked to the garden avoiding eye contact and feigned conversations with the people around me.
As I searched the garden for Gatsby, I quietly listened for all the bits of gossip the partygoers were discussing. Probably the most interesting story
was that Gatsby was having an affair with a married woman. The couple believed that the woman was none other than Miss Baker. I knew this
rumour wasn't completely true. Gatsby was indeed having an affair with someone but she wasn't married and she wasn't Miss Baker. In fact, you
know this person quite well but, I won't tell you who it is so don't even think of asking me. Anyways, I searched the garden for Gatsby but he was

The Narrative Essay
*What is a Narrative Essay? Narrative writing tells a story. In essays, the narrative writing could also be considered reflection or an exploration of the
author's values told as a story. The author may remember his or her past, or a memorable person or event from that past, or even observe the present.
The author may write about: –An experience or event from his or her past. –A recent or ongoing experience or event. –Something that happened to
someone else, such as a parent or a grandparent.
*Basic qualities of a narrative essay: A narrative essay is a piece ofwriting that recreates an experience through time. Unlike other essays,...show more

*Revising your narrative essay:
After spending time away from the draft of your narrative essay, read through the essay and think about whether the writing effectively recreates the
experience for your readers. Ask other people to read through the essay and offer their impressions. Identify where more details and descriptions are
needed. Identify and consider removing any information that seems to distract from the focus and main narrative of the essay. Think about whether
you've presented information in the most effective order.
*Prompts for your narrative essay:
1. A childhood event. Think of an experience when you learned something for the first time, or when you realized how important someone was for you.
2. Achieving a goal. Think about a particularly meaningful achievement in your life. This could be something as seemingly minor as achieving a good
grade on a difficult assignment, or this could be something with more long–lasting effects, like getting the job you desired or getting into the best
school to which you applied. 3. A failure. Think about a time when you did not perform as well as you had wanted. Focusing on an experience like
this can result in rewarding reflections about the positive emerging from the negative. 4. A good or bad deed. Think about a time when you did or did
not stand up for yourself or someone else in the face of adversity or challenge.

How To Write About Moving For A Narrative Essay

  • 1. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving As much as we would like to, we can't plan for everything. Long before we're even aware of them, these things happen and it's only within our control to make the best of it. One way I've made the most out of a decision I couldn't control was when my parents moved us from Naperville, Illinois, a place I grew up and lived in for 15 years of my life, to Bakersfield, California. The thought of change scared me because Naperville was the only place I had ever known. The first time the idea of moving was brought up was when I was in fifth grade. One day, my parents asked out of the blue how I would feel about moving away. My immediate response was of course no, why would I want to move? I loved my school, my teachers, my house, and most importantly my friends. I had everything I wanted. They didn't push much after that, they weren't too serious about it after all. My mom had received a job offer in a different state but they both agreed that with how young my siblings and I were, now was not the right time for us to move. I never expected the topic to be brought up again. I always thought I would graduate from the same high school both of my siblings did with my best friends at my side. I was shocked when sophomore...show more content... My family vacationed to Los Angeles when I was eleven years old. I remember the beach, the celebrities, the shops. It felt like I was in paradise. I think part of me wanted to believe that's where I would be moving to, but that couldn't be further from the truth. June 29, 2014 is a date forever burned into mind. After hugging the life out of all of my friends and kissing the walls of my childhood home, it was time to leave. The plane ride from O'Hare Airport to LAX was the longest four hours of my life. I remember listening to the playlist Julia made for me before I left the entire flight. I couldn't believe this was happening. My whole world was about to be flipped around and I had no Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Example Of A Narrative Essay College A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content... This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. There have been many people throughout my life that have helped me become the reader and the writer I am today. In the past few years, however, my perspective on reading and writing has changed a lot. This is through my highschool teachers, mostly. They have given me a different look on how I write about the things I read. How I analyze a story, and see the bigger picture within it. From being able to answer simple questions about stories, to more complicated ones, my teachers have shown me how to do these things Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Narrative Essay About Having A Dream Everyone has a dream. Whether it's small or big...we all have one. We also give up on them. We get stuck in the idea that our ideas are too far–fetched either because of other people's comments or because of our own self–doubt. We allow ourselves to forget about them and move on to things we believe are better for us. To things that although don't make us happy, are what society tells us is the right way to live. It's hard to have adream and keep it. The world we live in today is so cruel that a lot of times we don't even bother to dream anymore. We've gotten to the point where dreaming is just that. A dream. Yet, for my mom, that wasn't the case. My mother was born on March 24, 1973, in a small village in Guatemala. She grew up there...show more content... She sat me down and said well why not do both. I remember when she said that I was so happy. We began to think of how I could do both and came up with the idea of a singing lawyer. It was probably the worst idea we've ever had. I don't even think it would have worked out well either, but it was the fact that I could have done it and my mom would be completely okay with it and made it seem perfectly normal that helped me to never quit on my dreams. Her experience growing up wasn't at all how she made mine. Her mother and step father never encouraged or supported her. Growing up my mother struggled a lot. She had to grow up a lot faster than most kids and had to deal with the real world way before she should have had to. She was never pushed to do better or told that her dreams could come true. Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to go out a lot so she was always home studying or in her room. She was so restricted in her own home that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty. Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel like nothing. She didn't even have protection from her own mother, because her mom would never say anything about it. She just let it happen. My mom Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Immigration Standing in the middle of the airport's terminal gate, waiting to hear the voice of the anonymous lady in the microphone to announce about the time the gate opens to enter the airplane. Although we have traveled before, this time seems different. As a family, we waited there for forty –five minutes, and I spent each minute of them saying my goodbyes to the place where I spent all my teenage years there. A place that I grew up in, made life friendships, and finished my high school degree in its schools. During that time, I sat beside my mom and looked at my twin brothers playing with their toys in front of me. How naive and innocent they looked made me feel relief for a while because at least they will not have to deal with our immigration. Then, I turned to my mom to talk to her, but I saw tears on her face. I did not know what to do, the whole day I showed them that I am strong and can handle the situation however my mother's tears break me. Also, I could not tell my father about it because he too seems worried and nervous that he spent most of the time checking every single paper we need before traveling. Even though I tried to comfort my mom by telling her that...show more content... However, spending these hours thinking about the new country, and what we will face there, made these hours the longest in my life. The experience of traveling and visiting new countries was always one of my favorite hobbies, but not this time. I spent hours on the airplane thinking about how this new situation will affect my future. I only Knew the United States from my history lectures in school and movies, but I never thought about how living there will be. I spent hours just comparing between the country that I left and the U.S. like the language, different college style, culture, and even my friends. I could not think of a single thing as an advantage for me besides the feeling of secure that I missed from my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Narrative Essay About Obstacles The four pink walls that I stared at everyday until I was at the age of nine trapped me from my dreams, passions, originality, and youth. Outside those walls my life consisted of going to school smiling away the truth, then shortly after going home to take care of my baby sister or to see my mom with a coffee cup in her hand that sometimes contain funny smelling juice in it, and having a constant battle with a belt or anything my mom could get her hands on. Growing with my mother meant growing up in an abusive home, but that wasn't the obstacle I had to face. Bumps and bruises will go away, but words will last an eternity whether that be in a physical place or spiritual realm, words will always hurt more than sticks and stones. People say that music has a way of exposing hidden feelings and has a way of escaping reality. The song "Four Pink Walls" by Alessia Cara helps my ...show more content... The other 4th, fighting the words that choked, drown, and stabbed me every time I heard them. Obstacles are never easy to handle in any circumstance, but having a mental obstacle that seem to appear even when you're not being attack takes months and sometimes years to fully get over the issue. To this day I'm not even sure that I tackled the obstacle at hand instead I feel as if I just ran away from it. At the age of ten I was removed from my mother and lived with my father and stepmother instead. Every night that I spent in my new home I was still accompanied by the dark shadows and words that lived in my head. I heard my mother speak to me with cold cruelty every time I closed my eyes. Fast Forward to present time where I sometimes can't sleep at night because of the feeling of a bullet shattering my soul. Ironically speaking even when I'm physically not trapped the song "Four pink walls" still escapes my fear from reality. • 8. Narrative: a Memorable Event. Essay Narrative: A memorable event. I woke to my body jittering with anxiety. It was 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning, and it was the day that I had been awaiting for. I was almost ready when my Dad shouted '' Ya betta get ya'self moving Kertesha, we're gonna be late!''. I paused, and took one last look at myself in the mirror. My hair was scraped back, my polo necked fleece was suffocating and itchy, my black ribbed jodhpurs were tight around my midriff, but there was one thing missing. It was one thing which all the girls on the internet, in the movies, and in all the equestrian magazines had – A gilet. Mine was a pink Abercrombie & Fitch one, with ribbed salmon trims around the waistband and collar; it was not a real equestrian gilet,...show more content... Although the smell of the manure was strong, over time I began to appreciate it, and so it became more of an aroma, than an odour. But this is something my Dad never seemed to get used, to let alone appreciate. The entire stable had a rather odd smell; it was a mixture of hay, cut grass, dust, manure, and oddly, a hint of leather. This was a smell which I soon became very fond of. There were six of us in the group, we were all new to Dulwhich Riding School and filled with enthusiasm. After being handed our riding hats, we were alphabetically permitted to choose a horse, and as always, I was last in the alphabet. I was left with a choice of two, one was a blue roan filly. She was a young slate coloured horse who reminded me of Eeyore (from Winnie the Pooh), and was also a lot smaller than the other horses. Then I saw the attractive sorrel coloured gelding, he stood glaring at me with his head poking out of the barn gate. His mane was dark and silky, and he had a striking white birthmark on the bridge of his nose. Cashmere was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. A Narrative Essay About Moving To A New Country Bags and bags of packages were traveling to the opposite side of the world during the summer of 2009, and it was time to get settled down again, in an unfamiliar environment. It was strange when I took my first step into this new country––a place where I have never been to before. Three weeks later, school in elementary was starting. It was awkward for me to go to school, due to the reason of me being shy and still not used to the new environment, I did not know any English at that time, and wasn't able to communicate with anyone, I was only capable of communicating through my body languages. It was stressful not being able to say things that I wanted to say, but people were nice to me, and as time goes by, I'm starting to learning English little by little....show more content... • 10. The Importance Of Narrative Writing Narrative Writing is a story that is told and the order in which it is told. Some stories have narrators and some without. The narrator is normally a series of characters or one character who tell the story. Sometimes narrative writing can be classified as fiction writing which is a made up from start to finish. When there is narrative writing that is based on true stores, then the narrative writing is non fiction. Most narrative writing in the law enforcement sector is a "how to" format or a guideline on how a report should be written. It also explains the actual facts on how a crime occurred during the investigation. According to the text Biggs (2016), There are five rules of narrative writing. The first rule of narrative writing is, the report should always be written in first person. When the narrative explains first person, the narrative is stating that using "I or Me" in the reports identify the author of the person who is writing the investigative report. If "I or Me" is not being used to write the investigative reports, the investigation could be sought as made up or fake. The second rule of narrative writing is, the report should also be written in past tense along with first person view. According to the text, If you write in the past tense, you will develop consistency and, as a result, create a report that is professional and easy to read. With this type of consistency, the reports are easily believable to the reader and makes it easy to follow the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Many people have told me that I tend to overreact to things. My sister has told me that that's an understatement. I agree. The fact that my Asian parents sometimes tell me to be more relaxed about my Korean school grade says it all. So of course, among my list of anxiety–givers, middle school is one of the top few. Undoubtedly, the aforementioned many people must think of me as a drama queen when it comes to academics. But they should count themselves as lucky to have missed speculating how I first reacted to the prospect of attending middle school. My view on middle school was first formed at the heads–up trip, which was a quite thrilling occasion for nearly everyone in my grade. Near the end of my last year in elementary school, ...show more content... "That building is a maze!" I exclaimed. "How the heck are we gonna to get to classes on time? I couldn't even memorize the map." The arrival of our mailed schedules did not calm my frenzy of creating reasons to panic about middle school. "We're gonna have seven classes a day. Seven! That's seven times the homework, and seven times thirty minutes equals three and a half hours of homework," I declared despairingly. "And where's the lunch? Why isn't there a lunch on the schedule? Oh insert Korean swear, what if they don't let us eat lunch in middle school!" I groaned. At that time, it did not occur to me that a kitchen would not exist within a lunch–less school. Finally, the dreaded day arrived. Now, I must confess that the only clear memories I have of that school day is coloring in my schedule and watching a magic trick performed by my science teacher during the first block. Once I came home, I found my mother waiting in the kitchen with snacks, smiles, and an intense attentiveness to my face. "How was your day?" she asked me in her heavily accented English. This was a quite an inconvenient action for my mother to take, since she possessed an obvious discomfort at speaking the language. I also harbored a secret discomfort at listening to her Get more content on HelpWriting.net

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Theatre Theatres are usually cold, waiting to be warmed by the shadows that dances across the stage, who then breathes electric air that fills the lungs of the dark, empty spaces, with a new vibrant energy that is like no other. Walking across the worn train track towards NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) on my first day, I got that same feeling that the theaters get when there are performers in them; I realize that I was breathing air that renewed my soul and in that instance I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and that was to perform. Who wouldn't be more nervous to perform in front of people you don't know, knowing they were judging you and having to go after such incredible trained and natural talents. First, the sophomores went, who had previously experience what the freshman are experiencing now only a year ago, so they understand the nerves we have about performing on the first day of NOCCA, most of the sophomore went and sang with ease and candor, you could tell that they were in a position of training themselves for their future careers in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is almost as if I look up to sports because I could not live without them. Sports pretty much define me as me. I love to play sports as well as watch all kinds of sports on T.V. and if I could ever go to a game and watch the players play live I would be thrilled. Basically sports define me because I am ambitious, I finish what I start, I set goals for myself, and I am a fierce competitor in which I love to win and I hate to lose. I thought about all the hard work the coaches put us through doing two a days and keeping us late after a hard practice, spending all of that time and hard work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got into overtime. Then after about 6 crazy seconds he threw the ball to our halfback and he broke a couple tackles and the somehow stretched across the goal line by about 2 inches and we had taken the lead 8–6 with 52 seconds to go. When the game clock hit 00:00 for the first time in our schools history the football team had beaten Aberdeen and none of us could believe it. This was a special moment. Now, it was in this moment when I had realized that sports define me as me because we never gave up, none of us wanted to lose, we set a goal and completed it, but most important we kept our eye on the prize and came through in the moment when the game was on the line. Nobody is going to remember how many games we won or who the best player on the team was that season, but I guarantee what people will remember is when we had beaten Aberdeen for the first time in school Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Fishing The most precious childhood treasure was a green bass spinnerbait. This piece of ordinary fishing tackle was more than a good bass jig to me. It began a great bonding time with my father's dad and him. Now me and my father experience the same type bonding that he experienced with his dad. When I was 5 years old, my dad introduced me to fishing. We went to Walmart, and he let me pick out a brand new rod and reel, with some worms to fish with. We went out to a local pond to teach me. On the trip, I learned a few beginner skills. He taught me to cast a the pole, how to put the worm on the hook right, and be able to fix my pole if I broke the line. At first, I felt like I got tangled on every stick in sight. I had found a new passion, but most of all we had found a new bonding activity....show more content... I could cast the pole 100% better, put the worm on with perfection, and I began fixing my dad's pole. One sunny day, we went to a my grandparent's parents pond. The sun was shining brightly and the fish were jumping like never before. We were catching fishing, laughing, and having a good time. Then, he did something that I never would have expected. He pulled out a lime green jig that I had never seen before. It was sparkly, bright green, and wirley looking jig with a big hook. My dad told me it was a skirted bass jig, and after he told me the story of how his dad gave it to him. I felt truly honored for him to pass it to me. For the rest of the summer I felt like that all we did was fish, and I used my new jig every chance I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Kids Over the past eight weeks I have learned a lot about kids. I learned kids need lots of space to run around in, and they love crafts and getting their hands dirty. Some of my strengths with kids would be helping them when they needed it, and seeing if they need anything. One of my weaknesses would be not always paying attention to the kid you were by at that time. I learned kids are very active, and sometimes it is hard of them to adjust to a different environment. Some day's kids would be happy, and the next day they might be upset. Working with children is an interest in mine. I love taking photos of baby's and little kids; it is one of my hobbies/passions in life. For my career I want to be a sonographer, which is ultrasound. I would only give a class and a half to work on it and if they didn't get it done it was homework. The lessons at the beginning were the best and the last few. The one's in the middle I felt were disorganized, and people didn't care if they interacted with the kids. Some things I noticed were that some kids were tired in the morning, and other weren't. Certain kids needed more interaction than others. They like craft activities, and music. As the class went on I felt the kids learned to interact with each other. I feel most people didn't care if they interacted with the kids; they just sat on their phones, and only talked to each other. I think it was a positive experience for everyone to see what kids are like. How they get along with each other. A negative experience I had was I felt like I was one of the only people that payed the most attention to the kids. The kids would try to interact with the other people in the class, but they didn't care about them. Over all I think it was a great experience for me and everyone Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Narrative Essay On A Journey Everybody is on or has been on a journey before. Being on a journey is very important because it gives you a goal or task that you want to accomplish. When you go on a journey you find is yourself through the experiences and obstacles that life throws at you. Throughout a journey, you are taught life lessons and have the capability of applying that new knowledge for the future for a better outcome. Sometimes, these life lessons challenge you and you ultimately succeed at the end. For the past 5 months, I have been on a journey as I have been learning a new instrument that I've always wanted to learn since I was a little kid. Being on this path has taught me many life lessons and how to stay focused on what really matters. My interest in guitar started when my friend used to bring his guitar everyday and I would always want to play but didn't know how. I would always ask him to teach me how to play but I didn't know any of the chords and notes, therefore, I just gave up on attempting to play this new instrument. However, guitar is an elective that's offered here at Kennedy, so I decided to take the class. I noticed that my friend was getting better the more he practiced, so I decided to join the class to learn the basics and get started on this new journey. At first, it was difficult to understand the notes because I didn't have any musical background to help assist me for my own benefit. However, I began to focus more in class to learn the basics day by day. Overtime, I learned that you can't learn guitar in one day and you need a lot of practice to get better. I also discovered how progress is important to reach my end goal. I stayed on this journey to learn guitar because playing guitar is a special skill that I want to learn. n my free time or when I'm bored, I could play guitar while learning new and more songs to play. As a result, I will eventually and gradually get more advanced the more I learn. Another reason I stayed on this journey is because I want to want to challenge myself to do something I thought I could never do. When I was little, I always thought that I would never be able to play an instrument because it was too difficult to learn. Therefore, this is why I wanted to learn guitar in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Narrative Essay On The Great Gatsby Last night was all a blur. I was refused at first but my boss knows some things about me that I do not under any circumstances want exposed. Okay, so back to the party. I decided to that the faster I talked to Gatsby the better so I went to go find him. I thought the best place to start was out in the garden where I thought he would be conversing with his guests. I walked to the garden avoiding eye contact and feigned conversations with the people around me. As I searched the garden for Gatsby, I quietly listened for all the bits of gossip the partygoers were discussing. Probably the most interesting story was that Gatsby was having an affair with a married woman. The couple believed that the woman was none other than Miss Baker. I knew this rumour wasn't completely true. Gatsby was indeed having an affair with someone but she wasn't married and she wasn't Miss Baker. In fact, you know this person quite well but, I won't tell you who it is so don't even think of asking me. Anyways, I searched the garden for Gatsby but he was nowhere to be found. I then Get more content on HelpWriting.net
