2. Common Admission Test
• A computer based test held in India as the entrance
examination for MBA.
• The test scores a candidate on the bases of
Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and
Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation
(DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR).
• Eligibility- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with at
least 50 % marks or equivalent GPA (45 % in case of
SC, ST, PWD candidates). Final year undergraduate
students also eligible.
3. Exam format
Consists of 100 objective type questions.
The total duration of the test is 3 hours.
Each question carries 3 marks and there is
negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong
answer.
Percentile rankings are provided for each
individual section as well as for the overall exam
score.
4. 5 Steps to CAT Preparation Strategy
1. Understand all About CAT- About CAT, its
pattern and syllabus. Just get a feel of it.
2. Analyze your Strengths & Weaknesses-
Analyze how much time you may be required
to devote to your weak areas. There you will
have to study and practice more.
5. 3. Study Material- Select and collect study material
carefully. Develop a habit of reading newspapers
on a regular basis
4. Time Management- 4-5 months of serious
preparation can get you a good confidence level.
Practice and consistency is the key to success. You
should ideally put at least 20 hours a week for CAT
preparation.
5. Focus on Basics- Short-cuts, Vedic Mathematics,
speed multiplication and other tips are important,
but you should be first clear with fundamentals so
that you can better appreciate them.

• First 50% of your time should be spent in
building the fundamental concepts and basics.
