Do you allow food &
drink in the Library?
Mobile phones?
Food within reason:
Tea/coffee/drinks/
sweets/chocolates/mints/fruit
/muesli bars are OK.
Pie & chips/hot food etc are
not!
Please put your mobile on
‘silent’ and have mobile phone
conversations outside the
Library.
If you make use of this
privilege, please be very
careful and look after our
lovely Library.
5. How do I borrow books?
You can borrow up to 30
books at a time.
You issue books to yourself
– use the self-issue pc which
is in front of you as you
enter the Library (opposite).
You’ll need your University
card to borrow books using
this self-issue service.
Instructions for using it are
on the desk beside the pc.
6. How do I return books?
To return books to the
Library use the Book
Return Box which you
will find just outside the
Library door.
If any books are too big
to fit in the slot, or are in
a fragile condition, leave
them on Katrina’s desk
inside the Library.
9. How do I print in the Library?
All Library pcs are connected to a
B/W printer in the Library foyer.
You are allocated a number of
free print credits.
You can top up your credit at the
Bursary.
Remember to select
HMCPRINTLibrary1-BW as
your printer.
After clicking on ‘Print’ you’ll get
a screen with the cost & asking
you to ‘Confirm’. Click on ‘Yes’.
Colour printing? Ask Katrina/Sue.
10. How do I scan documents in the Library?
There is scanner in the Library
foyer, beside the printer.
You can either use it as a
flatbed scanner (eg for double-
sided sheets) or as a document
feeder (eg for single sheets).
You can scan to an email
address or USB stick.
Instructions are above the
scanner.
There is also a scanner
attached to Library pc 1.
11. How do I find books from my reading list in the
Library?
Use a Library pc or your laptop to go online.
Use Google to find the Oxford University catalogue
called SOLO – Search Oxford Libraries Online.
Next slide shows you what to expect when you get
there.
16. Where do I get more help and information?
Come and see us!
We love helping our students.
Sue is usually in the Library
Office (downstairs at the end of
the corridor ) and her door
is always open.
Katrina is usually in the Library at
her desk and always happy to help.
