A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Strategies for Effective Upskilling is a presentation by Chinwendu Peace in a Your Skill Boost Masterclass organisation by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan on 08th and 09th June 2024 from 1 PM to 3 PM on each day.

How To Curse In Russian
1. How To Curse In Russian
Perhaps it was those cold nights in Siberia, sitting around in the dark house. Or on the city streets
of Moscow, where citizens focus on their ‘bychit’ boldness (to conduct yourself like a bull).
Whatever the reason, there isn’t a language on Earth that has more attitude and personality in its
swearing than Russian.
Cursing in Russian is, when approached the right way, quite an enjoyable thing to do. Without
the ‘bychit’ attitude, you may find yourself offending, offended, and in quite a precarious
situation if you use swear words in general conversation. Let’s take a look at basic Russian curse
words and how they translate into English. Then, we’ll cover some handy language learning
techniques to help you master them and put the phrases into practice.
How to curse in Russian: The basics
DIckhead: хуи́ло, хуйло́
2. A dick for you: Хуй тебе́!
That’s bullshit: хуйня́
Shit: дерьмо́
Holy shit: Охуе́ть!
Suck my dick: Соси́ мой хуй!
Bitch: су́ка
Asshole: муда́к
To fuck: еба́ть
Motherfucker: ублю́ док
How to curse in Russian: Visual elements make a huge difference
A quick YouTube search for Russian curse words brings up a number of video results for both
pronunciation and written forms of Russian curse words. It is important to remember that
viewing and reviewing the words will make you more likely to remember them.
Here’s a great starter.
How to curse in Russian: Use cue cards
3. Cue cards are a great technique to use for general language learning. Add swear words, and the
process gets that much more enjoyable. Adding visual cues to the Russian curse words can help
you learn them faster. Use white flash cards to memorize your vocabulary words.
Write the curse words on a cue card, with the English translation on the back side. This is a fun
game to practice with friends. The cue cards also make a great and hilarious surprise to leave on
a friend’s car dashboard or slip into their laptop when they aren’t looking.
How often do Russian speakers swear?
About the same amount as the average English speaker. It’s important to curse with confidence
and meaning in Russian, similar to how you communicate through the language anyway.
Russians pull a lot of meaning and attitude out of swear words. Incorrect use can cause
unintended offense or be misinterpreted. Spend some time hanging out with a few native Russian
speakers and you’ll catch on quickly.
How To Curse In Russian: Putting It All Together
While studying Russian curse words, go over each term, repeating it out loud. If you don’t
remember what the vocabulary means, look on the back of your cue card to see the English
translation. Review the pronunciation by watching the YouTube video, clicking on the
pronunciation in Google Translate or listening to online audio clips. After a few repetitions,
while looking through the cards, you’ll remember the vocabulary through both the audio and
visual associations. Continue repeating the vocabulary out loud until you memorize it.
Why not take it a step further and learn some more Russian? It’s a beautiful language spoken by
over 330 million people around the world. Our native Russian speakers offer Russian lessons
online to get you speaking Russian regularly. Have a free lesson on us!
As we noted earlier repetition is key to success. Use your key cards, practice with a friend, or
better yet – do some Skyping with a fluent Russian speaker. You two can swear at each other
like one of you just punched the other’s son square in the face. Bet you never thought learning a
new language could be so much fun!
The moral of the story is to just do it. Learn the words. Use the words. Then, expand your
Russian vocabulary to cover basic daily interactions and conversations. Practice every day and
we promise – you’ll see some fucking results.
