This document provides instructions for creating and managing content on the Locly platform, including creating projects, places, and cards to display interactive content in the Locly app. Projects organize content and can be assigned to beacons or apps. Places contain cards representing different locations, and cards display content like text, images, videos or widgets. The steps outlined include creating a sample project with a place and card, and testing the content in the Locly app.

• We use projects to keep content together
• Projects can be assigned to beacons (via the main projects screen)
• You can assign projects to multiple beacons
• Projects can also be assigned to your customised apps (under the applications tab)
• Beacons can hold more than one project.

• The user scrolls up and down through the cards to see all the different places nearby
• They then scroll left and right through the cards for each place
• They tap on a card to view more details either on the right (on the iPad) or in a new
screen (on the iPhone).

Notification Enter a message to send to app users when they’re nearby

Summary This summary will appear next to your project avatar in the
app
Description This longer description will appear on the ‘about’ page under
the Settings menu in the app
Media
Avatar Upload an image for your project 600 x 600 pixels. This will
appear ion the projects page in the Locly app
Project Map Upload a map image for your project (if required) This will
appear under the Settings menu in the app
Advanced
Project Size Your project size in MB
Only visible to Private App Check this box if you only want this project visible in your own
customised app and not in the Locly app
Alternative Caches The IP address of your local locly cache server (if applicable)
Follow Along
Automatically show the first content card for a place without
having to tap on it. Works best for beacons far apart (can be
annoying for beacons that are very close together).
English
Select this to enter content in
multiple languages. Also use it
to manage your languages
Published
Check this box if you want to
unpublish your project at
anytime. This will remove it
from view and you can publish
again at any time.

Create a Beacon
Name Give your beacon a name so you can identify it in the system.
What type of beacon do you want to create? Click on the down arrow and select a beacon type from the list.
Major Number This is the beacon major and minor numbers as shown on the beacon
documentation or given to you by your locly partner.

App ID The iOS ID for your custom
app as given to you by locly.
App Icon Upload an icon 1024 x 1024

Check this box to enable this
project within your custom
app.
Default Only show the project in your
app when nearby.
Shown Always show the project in
your app.
Hidden Hide this project from the list
on your app.

Place Details
Name Give your place a name. This will appear at the top
of all cards in the place.
Notification Enter a message to send to app users when they’re
nearby the place.
Visibility (Default) Show when nearby, but not otherwise.
Shown Always show the place.
Hidden Never show the place.
Advanced Sometimes show the place as configured by the
time rules.
Avatar Upload an image that is 400 x 400 pixels. This will
be the icon on all cards in the place.
Beacon Tap this link to go to the Beacons Management
page to set-up or select your beacons.

Card Details
Type The card type selected.
Name
Give your place a name. This will appear on the card
cover.
Visibility Shown The card is always shown within the place.
Hidden The card is hidden within the place.
Advanced Se the card to be shown as configured by the time rules.
Cover For best results upload an image that is 500px wide x
600px high.
Text
Enter your text and use the simple formatting tools. You
can also paste in images.
Images
For best results upload images that are 700px wide x
500px high. You can upload multiple images at the same
time and reorder them.
Video Upload M4V files no larger than 6MB.
Audio Upload M4A files no larger than 2MB.
Widget Upload your Bookry widget as a zip file.
Unpublished
/ Published
Check this box
when you are
happy for the
card to be visible
to the outside

Preview the card

13. HOWTO
create a project on
locly.com and test it
using the locly app
1. create a new project, place and card
•Click on ‘Projects’ in the top black bar
•Select ‘Create Project’

•Info: Give your project a name, summary and description
•Media: Upload an avatar (best size 600 x 600px) and project map
•Advanced: Refer to page 3 of this guide for more details
•Places: Select ‘Create Place’

•give your place a name (this will appear at the top of all cards in this place)
•add a notification if required
•set the visibility as ‘Default’
•upload an Avatar (best size 400 x 400px)
•select a beacon (note: you can test content in the app without assigning it to a beacon)
•click on ‘Create Card’ and select the card type as ‘Simple’

•give your card a name (this will appear at the bottom of your card)
•select the visibility as ‘Shown’
•upload a cover image (best size 500 x 600px)
•enter some sample text in the text editor
•upload your files: image, video, audio or widget
•click on the ‘Unpublish’ box to publish your card
•repeat the process to create more cards
2. test in the locly app
•tap on ‘My Projects’ in the Projects Side Bar
•Tap on ‘Login to see your Projects’ and login
•Tap on My Projects again and you will see your project
•Either:

‣ If you didn’t assign it to a beacon, it will be visible under ‘All’
